RB, I would like to topslice at 250p too...but we have to get there first. Some encouraging progress recently, albeit from a really low point.
Hopefully ALTN can continue to deliver positive figures going forward.

I would like to know what is driving the increase.....any thoughts?
Perhaps the market has suddenly realised that ALTN is a diamond in the rough!
Certainly not driven by recent news from the company....unless this is a delayed reaction about the financing deal.

Whatever flavour of government we have they will have to face the same debt mountain amassed during the pandemic. The focus will have to be on growth....but god only knows how we can get it. Truss had a plan but the markets said "NO!!!!!" (very loudly).
I like the Labour plan for high tech renewable jobs....not sure the UK will be able to afford it though. Chinese 'help' (with strings attached) probably wont be an option.

Timing selling shares is harder than buying the damn things. SP rises and you kick yourself, SP falls and you wish you had sold more.
I suppose the trick is to have a plan. Attempt to average down or invest in something else. Timing the market perfectly is almost impossible.

Pc, Rishi Sunak is in a very tricky position. But he wanted the job and hopefully he has a plan to get us out of this mess.
I also believe there might be a sneaky Tory agenda to undermine the NHS and to say it isn't working, allowing them to bring in private healthcare companies to run parts of it...the profitable parts. But perhaps I'm just being cynical!

LGEN had the recent LDI crisis to add a bit of excitement...that was enough for one day!
So Easyjet were up 4% last week....next week they could be down 4%. They call that investing don't they?

I'm not really sure 'excitement' is sensible terminology to use with investing....but I know what you mean. LGEN is boring and hopefully safe....I suspect it is why people have it in their portfolio. There are certainly more exciting (less boring) sectors but that probably comes with extra risk.
The US tech growth stocks were very exciting - I'm sure they still are - but anyone invested in them has taken a significant haircut over the last year. Perhaps that is where additional excitement can be had....but others will want boring income stocks, even though they are dull.

Andy, you could have asked the same question last year and duly invested in American growth stocks.....and lost 20- 30%. If you want risk then invest in Russia!

HarryC, no I'm not from the Wales. Why?

The LDI crisis must have worried a few people, because it showed that even LGEN isn't without a bit of risk. PLus the fact that LGEN is probably seen rightly or wrongly as purely an income stock.
But with the rise in interest rates and the increase in bond prices perhaps one day LGEN will get re-evaluated and seen as a bit more 'interesting'. Who knows?....certainly not me!

Lol Scott, that's a bit gloomy on the dividend front. If Wood group get on a path to profitability then dividends would follow

The use of pseudo finance-language makes me think so....how would a 'situation' be 'live'.....the gooks are coming over the wire and we have a 'live' situation?!......someone has been watching too many Vietnam war films and/or documentaries......INCOMING!!

Andy, I'm not sure I understand why you are classifying LGEN as 'boring' based on a single weeks performance. It is like saying Fulham aren't going to win the Premiership based on the result of one match.
There are a lot of wise heads on here that suggest trying to average down (easier said than done) and diversification. There are others who seem to suggest LGEN is going to be the next Amazon of the pension world. If you get LGEN at the right price then I don't think it will be a mistake....slightly boring is sometimes OK.

ALTN over the years has been a frustrating share to own. They have had many hurdles and made incremental progress. The management have also had ambitions that probably exceeded their capabilities.....favorite son syndrome!?
The lights are currently Green for Go. If they can deliver on their planned production increases then SP will follow higher even though it is in Kazakhstan (I hope). They have the money, they have the Green light for Go, they even have a new accountant....no more excuses, time to deliver.

You have to ask what sort of incompetent management are running this company. They got a big pay packet when they floated and now are running the company badly & into the ground. Get rid of the useless bunch and get someone in who knows how to run a retail company. Stock in the wrong place is unforgivable. But I expect they will still get a bonus.
Hedge fund who sold at 370p must be cracking open the shampoo and celebrating they managed to get out on a high.
Hopefully they is a short term fiasco and they can get a grip quickly....if not get someone in who can.
