All I know is that Boots will take a commission, as for who gets what? Ygen will not only supply the test but also some of the processing too I gather. It will be a decent little income stream no doubt, it all helps. As for MHC, I think a lot depends on their own products that are supposed to be developed at a rate of two a month launched every quarter. Of course they have only been around in their new form for a few months, so early days.

it's bound to make some difference. I doubt people will realise Tui are subsidising it and will just add it onto the cost of the holiday. Anyway, I expect Ygen will be very busy with govt contracts to worry too much about the travel sector..After all, they are the only company to use it's own test, in it's own lab, with it's own sequencing capacity. Can't be bad, just need to fill up that 10k capacity now.

they are delivering over 250k pcr tests a day right now. Can increase to 750k in a nano if needed. I don't think lab capacity will be a problem if they opened it up.

Dan, there is lab capacity in the country to do 700k+ pcr tests a day if needed. Or do you mean the bottlenecks at airports etc?

DAN, don't see your point about ODX and their test? They won't go away from PCR test because they will need to sequence positive tests for variants . LFT can't do that. Anyway Odx test isn't as accurate as some others like Avct.

andym, govt don't supply testing for travel if that's what you mean? Anyway it's a bit too early for the framework stuff imo. Then again? Just 1% or even less of the kitty will be transformational for Ygen. It's inconceivable to me that they won't get anything from it, especially when there are only 9 suppliers on one lot..

yes Tui have subsidised it. Tui will just add on the cost to the punter. Looking at Chronomics website they still charge £120 for a pcr test, work that one out?
They also make claims that are iffy too, like it being a ''gold standard'' test, well it certainly isn't upto the standard of MHC/Ygen. The claim 95/99 % accuracy, ahem, that's not very good in comparison. Saliva testing is proven to be less accurate despite their dodgy claims!

As LR mentioned they have seen increased sales regards the travel sector pcr tests. I would think with Boots (MHC) onboard they could well shift a fair few of these with them alone?
I hope they don't give the govt all of the 10k a day capacity.. Just imagine 10k tests a day..silly as it sounds, it could well happen, especially competing in all 4 lots... lol

certainly a few being traded today. Can't fathom the selling with what's in the pipeline. BMD with egg on face right now regards the US ''it's in the bag'' claim. Still time for that to come in I suppose! I don't expect anything from the 4 govt lots for a little while yet, maybe 2/3 weeks.
Looking at the other companies in that small list of 9, at least two are mainly hardware/ equipment and the like.I don't think they supply tests or labs, so that's two less to worry about.

obviously the sellers don't think there is any future in £22Bn of 4 govt lots and supposed impending US contracts! We'll see? Wonder if it's still HSBC offloading?

I agree, there won't be any deal with Amazon for anything like pcr tests. Would also like to see deals for their own products that are launching fairly soon.

if demand gets a bit too high they can offload some into Ygen or other labs? Ygen might well have too much on their plates with their own stuff, especially when/if they capture some of those govt contacts on the four lots they were awarded. There might well be some synergy/work there for MHC too when the travel season slows down.
Let's not forget their own products coming online too. It certainly looks like MHC are going to be very very busy!

a lot of the problems seem to be with the performance of the Royal Mail. A lot complaints seem to be people getting their samples late, or not at all, or they are returned late, then the labs can't turn the results around in time. So it's it seems it the Royal Mail that causes a lot of the issues as far as I can tell.
