It would be difficult for any lab /commercial director to argue away from what the Ygen/Ranger workflow offers, and others inc Illumina, as SS mentioned some of their equipment is $1M a pop...wow!

I wouldn't be too sure about Illumina not being interested, and it's nothing to do with them being benevolent or kind in any way. It would be just a business decision to knock out or to acquire a competitor who has tech that will maybe cause the sales of their own expensive equipment to slide a little. Major labs are taking Ranger onboard and the likes of Illumina will have to take note, and probably already are.
Labs have taken it on just because of it's better performance, let alone the big cost savings on top.
I think where they will score is any new labs that set up and need a workflow from day one. More established labs will have contracts in place so will take a bit longer, but some will still convert, as have already.
This time hopefully the IP belongs to Ygen. lol

Truro, fair assessment. I am hanging around to see what this Ranger tech can do. I must say, It looks very promising indeed, if it does what they say it can! I think they are getting more from the tech than they first thought too. Seems like it's going to potentially 'disrupt' Illumina alright, especially when the second megalab signs up.
Why would you want to pay $20 for tubes when you can get it for $1 ...and better accuracy/results too when up against the streck tubes that go on that expensive Illumina equipment.
EDTA tubes on Ranger tech V's Streck tubes on Illumina .. Could get interesting because Illumina will know some important outfits are taking Ranger onboard. Let the games begin!!

As Stas says, revenue means nothing, and neither does having 100/200/300 or more products if you can't sell them in enough quantities. Pinning hopes on the Ranger tech now. It should pull this out of the crap at last.

Yes, I saw that! Compelling reasons to use the EDTA tubes. What would you rather pay $18/20 or $1/2.....each blood test for your tubes? Massive saving right there, can't fail imo!

of course redundancies are coming. Many were only on short term contracts anyway. How else are they going to save £5m +. They are cutting their cloth, nothing wrong in that!

GLT. very interesting, but as of yesterday Scott reckons it's only one of the four big labs signed up and one at cost negotiation stage. Unless you know different, or just very positive it will get over the line soon.
