I wouldn't be too sure about Illumina not being interested, and it's nothing to do with them being benevolent or kind in any way. It would be just a business decision to knock out or to acquire a competitor who has tech that will maybe cause the sales of their own expensive equipment to slide a little. Major labs are taking Ranger onboard and the likes of Illumina will have to take note, and probably already are.
Labs have taken it on just because of it's better performance, let alone the big cost savings on top.
I think where they will score is any new labs that set up and need a workflow from day one. More established labs will have contracts in place so will take a bit longer, but some will still convert, as have already.
This time hopefully the IP belongs to Ygen. lol
