Thinking that British Gas would be quiet at this time of year, two days ago I phoned them up (Cardiff call centre) to arrange a service of my boiler. I have been a BG customer for over 40 years and thought that perhaps they would be able to do it next week. But no, the first appointment they could offer me was Monday 19th August, so around about a 7 week wait. Also I had to pay for it straight away. One wonders how they would cope it they hadn't already haemorrhaged hundreds of thousands of customers.
