Up or Down – but why either way?23 Apr 2023 13:13
We’ve all played the game where once you get the dividend, you sell the share and move on, or you realise that there is an element of investors who do move on and, therefore, the share price does drop! However, well run and profitable companies this drop tends to be short lived, so is this going to be the case here?
Harbour Energy shares are now close to their all-time low of £2.29. So can I see the share price continuing to drop further, perhaps, but I don’t think so and for this reason I’ve gone all in here (not a strategy for widows and orphans may I add).
Shorters, I don’t think are a problem, it’s just a general malaise in share prices in the UK in general and especially oil and gas companies that are suffering from an over exorbitant EPL with no floor.
A year is a long time in investing and just because the shares have dropped 52% during that time, there is no reason to suggest that they won’t reverse the trend with good news. After all, we have acreage in other areas of the world and good news, always sends a rocket up an oil and gas company.
It is that my belief that the shares are too low now. Maybe even a merger could develop, only the board knows what is being discussed to improve investor confidence.
