Broker ratings are a joke. Does anyone actually bother listening to them?

Nothing risky at all Johnny. I can still buy every share today cheaper than I sold them for yesterday. I've taken the profit and that has to be the least risky thing you can do ;) As i say I'm a big fan of where this can go and the recent appointment (i didn't see the broadcast but read about the news) is great news for the company. The way i saw it (and still do) is quite simplistic. there was a 15% spike in a day for no reason that anyone seems able to confirm. Today could have seen a 15% drop again but wasnt likely to see another consolidated rise of anything much so i took the opportunity. I'll be back in here soon, could just do with a touch of retrace to make me feel better before I do.

in some respects so do i wideyed ;) I was very patient in waiting for something to happen here and other than the previous Director presumably running out of shares to sell i couldnt 'justify' yesterdays rise. it would be good though to see the SP rise steadily from here because i think a retrace could affect confidence. if it rises i'll get back in. if it retraces i'll get back in cheaper. either way i dont want to be out of this one.

Now hoping for a retrace to let me back in at my original entry point! Great potential here so dont want to be out for long....

...but wanted to get back in for the divi. Is this a good entry point? The results dont look bad really and the CEO seems focused. Although the divi has been re-positioned its still solid at this SP entry point.

It's a fantastic update. Not just in terms of meeting this years financials but the forward sales pipeline is fantastic. I work in the industry and these are some seriously solid numbers.

Expects profits of nearly three quarters of a billion pounds for the year: Britain's biggest builder Barratt said on Wednesday it expected 2016/17 pre-tax profit to meet the top end of market expectations despite building barely any more homes than in the last financial year. The firm said it anticipated profit would reach up to 733 million pounds ($950 million), the top end of analysts' expectations in a Thomson Reuters poll and over 7 percent higher than in 2015/16. It's great to see this over £6. Some of my pre-BREXIT BDEV shares have been under water for a while now and are now back in profit. Keep it going.....

The first of the Special Dividends of 45p were paid on 2nd May although havent checked my account yet. It's normal for a share to drop by the amount of the dividend payment shortly after the ex-divi date rather than the payment date. It's not as linked as £x leaves the companies account on x date and therefore the SP drops by the equivalent amount. the reason for the drop you see today 4-5% depending on when you looked is the trading statement.....which isnt that bad. So - i would expect the SP to close out 3.5-4% down today and then recover once the market reports are about someone other than NXT. This is a solid entry point still for someone with plenty of dividend payments to come still.

Disappointing reaction to a trading statement that was within the range. Who wouldn't have assumed the statement would be towards the lower range anyway? this is a divi share for me anyway so im not overly affected but it was nice seeing the share tick up all the same.

Does that happen automatically or does the company need to trigger that internally? Presumably this depends on the SP of the other companies nibbling round the edges at the time?

this is an income share for me so any dips ex-div i can live with although arent often quite as bad as the div payment itself. A nice little 'in the cupboard' share at this level i think although i did buy some around the £38 mark a few months ago.

Fair enough beetroot, apologies for what was a rather curt reply on my behalf - I just dont have the time to read RNS's that long (its a monster) in complete detail and and to be fair i appreciate there are other investors who either 1) have the time and 2) know more than i do, so i do appreciate the confirmation from others. Never let them tell me what to do though as it's my money to lose after all. Nevertheless I've just sent some money over to my SIPP and I've topped up on NXT. Will just sit on these though because if they can maintain anything like an 8% yield in the short to medium term I'm more than happy with that! Just a shame i didnt do it yesterday morning....

have i mis-read the divi? the 45p per quarter - is that in ADDITION to the normal divi? If so thats a very different prospect. I assumed it was a total divi of 45p/share not in addition. can anyone clarify definitively please?

agreed philpot i saw the movement and thought it couldnt keep on rising but it did. kick myself now but hey ho. sadly next divi at little over 1% in unexciting in itself but once this settles i'll look again. Would love to dip below £40 again (mentally) and then pop them on the shelf for a year or two....
