Voted 7 to 3 against. Not enough information in the officers’ report to convince the committee that the application, which included acidisation and proppant squeeze techniques, would not have an impact on people and the environment. So the companies have to PROVE it is safe. The precautionary principle is back!
Wressle refused?
MarktheSpark, you are absolutely correct. But… according to Tom Pickering of Ineos, they don't expect UK Shale gas to contain any ethane.
Ah don't confuse the issue. Ineos say we need METHANE from shale gas for energy in the UK. But what they are importing is ETHANE from shale gas for use as a feed stock for plastics. Not the same thing at all.
The Lib Dems membership voted to oppose fracking at their Spring 2016 conference, so it doesn't matter what Ed Davey thinks. But his comments were made as part of the coalition government so cannot relied upon anyway. Corbyn WILL ban fracking. GMB may be pro-fracking but every other major union is against fracking. Literally a couple of thousand people are against franking? Really? The government's own Energy surveys show 33% of the public are against fracking and only 19% pro. A couple of thousand against fracking? So how come there were 40,000 written objections to fracking in Lancashire? Really roguetrader83 you can do better than that.
My word young man you have such a foul mouth. What would your mother say?
Gosh he was right.
The DUP was probably irrelevant on the issue of fracking. The Conservative government realised that its manifesto was pants so it removed policies that the British Public is against.
You know how weak the government was when they supported a few hundred shareholders in the hope it would somehow boost their credibility. Bye bye Shale gas.
Today's London Evening Standard (George Osborne's paper) is predicting that fracking will NOT be in the Queen's speech.
Not really double standards - the pensions are controlled by pensions authorities - not by the actual councils.
A small portion of shale gas is ethane - a gas which Ineos uses to make ethene and ethylene etc. Unfortunately Tom Pickering off Ineos was heard to say recently that they don't expect UK shale gas to contain any ethane. So they'll have to continue importing it from USA. That's why they built the ships!
Ha ha ha!
The fundamental objectives of the anti fracking movement have been to: 1. delay, delay, delay (not one high volume frack in the UK for 6 years, many legal appeals, 6 months delay getting the Conditions agreed for Misson etc etc), 2. cause the industry more cost (all the specialists are losing money, IGas has to pay a £650,000 bond for Misson etc etc), 3. raise awareness, increase public opposition and decrease public support (see the government's frequent Wave Tracker Survey on Energy), 4. get more political parties on board. I think success on all four fronts so far.
But as you say, the second rig will be larger.
But have you see the conditions?
Bet365 now 7/1 on Corbyn winning. Skybet now 15/2. Wm Hill 13/2.
Misson Springs Section 16 now delayed until end of May. :-)
Energy self sufficient? Then why do we export so much gas to Europe? Why did the CEO of Ineos refuse to guarantee that shale gas would not be exported? Don't make me laugh - this is not about energy security, it's about money and greed.
So why has he share price bombed today at the news?
