"Provisional estimates show that carbon dioxide emissions fell between 2017 and 2018 by 2%; the key factor leading to this decrease was the switch in generation from coal and gas to renewable sources." - BEIS, 28/3/19
Er.. No. IGas trading update 4 February 2019:
"We reached TD of the Tinker Lane well in December 2018. The purpose of the well was to delineate the edge of the shale in the Gainsborough Trough basin. Whilst indications of hydrocarbons were encountered within the Millstone Grit, the Bowland Shale was not present in the well. The well has now been plugged and abandoned, and plans are being drawn up to fully restore the site to its former condition."
The Express seems to be mixing up Tinker Lane and Misson Springs.
And now government has turned down Cuadrilla's Roseacre shale gas site.
Bijaydoug, I think there is a very good reason why rizalino spouts exactly the same thing "time and time and time again".
Because it is true.
Latest government wave tracker survey on energy reveals that opposition to shale gas is at 35% whilst support is at an all time low of 13%.
It is all over.
Speaking after Cuadrilla's announcement, a spokesman from the Oil and Gas Authority said: "There are no plans to review the limit under the traffic light system."
Oo I thought Ineos was importing ethane (from shale gas) into Scotland. Worth pointing out that ethane is not used to heat homes.
The presumption against fracking was announced on Monday at a meeting of Burnham and the region’s 10 local authority leaders from Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan.
Burnham never claimed to 'have the power'. But through the Greater Manchester Minerals Policy he will propose a presumption of a ban on fracking across his City region.
Watch this space!
Government's barrister, Rupert Warren QC, concedes that English local councils can reject national policy on fracking if they have evidence that the process contributes to climate change.Game over.
Oops. IGas has drilled to maximum depth at Tinker Lane but has failed to find the Bowland Shale.
No doubt those protestors have stolen it.
it wasn't me who came up with the Traffic Light System - it was the UK geologists.
It wasn't me who agreed to the Traffic Light System - it was Cuadrilla.
And as for Ineos importing shale gas from America - it's only the ethane component of the shale gas that being imported. Whereas Ineos, at a public meeting last year, said they didn't expect UK shale gas to have any ethane.
But what do I know? I'm a knobhead.
ha ha I started to reply but then I couldn't be bothered. :-) More important things to do.
On holiday with who, Teggsy? No.
By the way I did not write EARTHQUAKES. I wrote 'seismic events'.
Cuadrilla want to relax the seismic events standards that THEY HELPED TO WRITE six years ago. Not going to happen. A J Lucas shares down 17% today.
Fracking until January and then flow testing until July 2019.
Bear in mind government will analyse the responses from the consultation and then publish a follow-up consultation in 2019.
It seems Igas has failed to appeal in the 6 months time remit.
Less than 1% of our gas is Russian gas.
And there WAS enough gas after all. :-)
