What exactly will it come back as then? There has been no formal announcement of a name change prior to restoration, and shareholders certainly haven't voted on any such resolution, including at the AGM just last week.

Regarding the RTO theory, no application has been made, and no prospectus has been issued. Crucially, LSE rules require a minimum market cap of £30 million for a Main Market RTO; with our current share capital, the price would need to increase more than threefold just to meet that entry requirement. Until there is an official RNS, any talk of a new identity or an RTO is pure speculation and supposition that ignores the regulatory reality.

To serve in the Cabinet, an individual must be a member of either the House of Commons or the House of Lords so they can be held accountable to Parliament. By suggesting Andy Burnham (who is a Mayor, not an MP) should be "summoned to Number 10" for a Cabinet role, you are implicitly suggesting he be given a peerage and sent to the Lords. You don't have to "mention" the House of Lords for that to be the only legal mechanism to make it happen. It isn't "twisting words" it's just knowing how the building works.

@Onlyif No, I'm afraid even if you give somebody a seat in the House of Lords you still can't make them PM they need to be an MP first so the only way for that to happen is for a by-election that he manages to win. What shocks me most isn't what government does but the fact that people such as yourself doesn't understand the processes of government but you still use your vote for a purpose thats beyond your comprehension.

@Onlyif It’s actually quite a standard practice for all parties. The current government brought in Patrick Vallance and James Timpson via the Lords for their expertise, and the Conservatives have done it for years most recently with David Cameron. Even Reform UK is using non-MPs like Zia Yusuf for their frontbench team. It’s less about a "lack of talent" and more about the fact that sometimes the specific experts needed for a job haven't spent their lives trying to get elected in a local constituency!

@Hepran Why complain when someone goes on about relisting? It’s not like you don’t want it too, or at least that’s what I assume. There’s nothing else to dwell on, since everything is as clear as mud and nothing is set in stone. So whatever is discussed right now has no real impact on reality and is all just speculation.

That would be nice, unlikely without news of a positive nature but nice all the same.

Interesting to see that contrast, @Troajan . While the US is seeing inflation re-accelerate toward 4%, the UK’s latest CPI reading of 3.3% suggests we are currently showing more resilience against these global "second wave" pressures.

For once, the UK isn't just following the US trend. Being half a percent lower than the US and significantly below our own double-digit peaks from a few years ago indicates that the "stability premium" is returning to the UK. This relative domestic stability gives the Bank of England more breathing room on interest rates compared to the Fed, which is now under immense pressure to hike again.

If we can maintain this gap while the US overheats, the UK starts looking like a much safer haven for investment, which is exactly what the housing and construction sectors need for long-term recovery.

@Asperger1 Those shares you mentioned have quite interesting histories. If you look back to 2022/2023, they made massive losses, followed by significant gains in 2023/2024, only to face heavy losses again from 2024 to 2026. This suggests that gains in this sector are highly cyclical and heavily dependent on supply constraints, access to personnel, and, most importantly, interest rates.

Persimmon was the hardest hit in the sector during the initial downturn. Historically, it maintained very high margins that the market eventually realised were unsustainable as build costs rose and house prices cooled. In early 2023, the company also slashed its dividend by 75%, which caused the share price to halve from its 2022 levels. In contrast, builders with a focus on government partnerships and social housing, like Morgan Sindall, have shown far more consistent upward growth over the same volatile period.

@Asperger1 If you are interested in investing in building companies, why not take a look at those that hold significant government contracts? The majority of those have performed much better than the ones you quoted.
