Refinery reconstruction and construction: Reconstruction on the SONARA refinery, destroyed by a 2019 fire, began in August 2025 with the goal of full capacity by late 2027. A new 30,000-barrel-per-day refinery and petroleum reserve depot is also under construction in Kribi, according to Xinhua.
Production forecast: Crude oil production is forecast to rise to 22.1 million barrels in 2027, up from an expected 19.8 million in 2025, reports Quantum Commodity Intelligence.
