I really under appreciated just how big these guys are in America. The list of reality shows they produce is immense and a market cap of just over 1% of Netflix

A market maker is obliged to quote a working 2-way price. If Brent is at the top end of a 4% range then of course they mark the shares higher trades or not. What would you do ? Hold it steady until everyone lifts you and then chase a short higher ?

Re: XOM. Exxon have explicitly committed to zero green initiatives. A lot of debt investors couldn’t buy their bonds because of that stance but the equity clearly benefited vis a vis BP. XON knew that oil was cheap in 2020 and invested heavily at the bottom.

I am on my phone so difficult to do a full explanation with figures but:

Biden is juicing the bayjesus out of the US. GDP is growing at 4% (vs 0 here) a year because the budget deficit is 6% of gdp. Gov debt to gdp is 129% vs c.100% here

US is reshoring manufacturing.

UK still suffering from Brexit loss of trade.

But most importantly- 85% of US households own shares. There is a deep and active stock market which policy makers will do anything to support .

The UK mainly holds savings in Pensions and Insurance which has its hands tied by regulations to hold a lot of “safe” bonds… how did that work out in Sep-22 ?

The US also has some of the most innovative companies in the world. We have Oil and Banks.

ITV US studios were hit by the strike last year. Will not be an issue this year.

FXPO clearly think that they don’t owe 58k. Hence the court proceedings against them. If you just paid 58k to anyone who challenged you then you would be bust in no time

They have set aside £65 million not £13. They added £35m at last results but did also say that about £11m was due back to them from joint responsibility.

Fundamentally, this is a 50-60m per year business (in normal years) trading below £120m mkt cap.

Plus the tax relief announced for UK TV production. Overseas buyers will be interested in shifting production to here.

If they breakeven at $25-30m revenue then $35-40m in 2028 means they should be making $10m profit then. x20 PE means $200m valuation. Discount to today and it’s closer to $100m or about £80.

ITV’s main assets are its studios. They will be of interest to many large media organisations.

Nobody is talking about a foreign government taking over ITV.
