I agree Long but it’s a bugger when I’m trying to build a buy to let portfolio.

House prices
I was quoted 3.75% fixed for 5 years for a buy to let mortgage only last week with a 20% deposit.

Get the wind turbines up and running, incentify solar panels on houses and businesses again - its not difficult and very quick to do. Nuclear will take 10 years +

if you get on the wrong side of inflation, inflation fuels inflation.

raising rates will incourage wage increases (strikes) which does more damage.

This was about interest rates.
raising IR will not stop rising energy costs. it will stop luxury purchases such as eating out, days out etc which will decimate businesses.
In a period of super high inflation you need low wages (as painful as it is) a surplus of people who want to work to keep them cogs turning, not downing tools stood around the burning barrel.

I went to the fish and chip shop on Monday, 1st time in ages, £10.50 for fish and chips and the fish was not much bigger than a fish finger.
