- things were not all rosey, back in 2003/4 I started to work with Eastern Europeans 2 became 4,6 12, 24, 4 days a week became 5 days became 6.5 days, week in week out, really really good people, did not want anything for free, sweat blood literally - times were good but that was just me and the same was happening everywhere. As a country we should have embraced that, built the infrastructure to deal with that, of course vetted the people but like in any group I hope - only 1% are bad and we could have dealt with that.
The bankers were getting greedy in 2006 7 and 8 and the UK at that time was buzzing and then crashed overnight and the infrastructure build, the retainment of these amazing, grateful people got quashed, the brits started to que at the docs and A&Es and it all went sour from there for the next few years.
We missed the opportunity to build a really good team, an understanding of what we need and what we want as a country, and things could and should have got better for everyone. The Eastern European people are not at fault for coming to the Uk and working when we asked them to do so, but no government built the infrastructure to cope with them but they were loving the tax and NI returns.

Very very disappointing.

Go back 10 years ago. Life was bloody good I think.

The Stamp duty worked in fairness but the Ukraine war stopped that success as we are seeing now, so it needed a proper review (some brains) not just rinse and repeat because now it’s not going to work, they had all summer to talk to industry’s we cannot get materials to build back better.
