The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
Almost afraid to log in here of a morning as the disasters continue: watching the SP tumble, drill failures, geological confusion, POO and the ongoing insult of buybacks - which will ultimately be only to the benefit of Robin Hood and the Merry Men of Shaikan forest.
No wonder company comms are frugal - they would only confirm the worst even hardened investors could dream of.
What an unmitigateable disaster of outright earlier lies, ongoing non-achievements, broken promises, sellout, incompetence, bad luck, non-payments from customers whom mysterioulsly amass billions.
How long can this go on before someone loses patience, pulls the leaking plug, or takes legal action ?
They would not sell or hand them over until a sale was agreed I guess.
They are currently a company asset, and should appear on the books as such - unless of course they are sold and turned back into cash ?
It will be heartbreaking if they are all assigned as bonuses to ' the team' of course.
The buy back shares have been purchased at the bottom of the market (one would hope) - so I guess they are a cheap way of a purchaser acquiring a (10% ? ) controlling interest in the company prior to takeout without causing wild speculation in the SP ?
Wonder which company could be behind this dasterdly scheme - if indeed it exists ?
Where did our Sami slope off to ?
Something is afoot I feel.
SP diving like a lead zeppelin - good day to tie up even more of our working capital in your self-award shares scheme then Jon.
Do you have any conscience around executing this textbook example of mis-management of a public company's funds one wonders ?
Look and learn how DNO conduct themselves regarding who benefits from the sale of company funded buyback shares.
Why would the majority shareholders ever approve a shares award scheme for the continued non achieval of a company's short, medium and longterm goals ?
Wouldn't quite call them pork pie-ers h1970 - but certainly economical with information, and they can smell great wealth coming their way in the forseable future (if they tow the MNR/JFline with discretion).
The buybacks have their names allocated already.
Have a stemcell feeling that things are improving around here.
Full marks on your homework there Opu.
Seems credible that a major holder has indeed instructed our illustrious BoD to eat the Company's spare cash - and buy them out quietly with minimal damage to the sp for the remaining majors (the BoD's incentive for doing this being their staff award ruse of course). There can be no other explanation for the unjustified self-award schemes being approved by the majority shareholders in an environment of failed and delayed measures to increase production.
This round of buybacks will continue into a further round until the major has left the building.
What is to become of a company which can't/doesn't know how to/isn't allowed to reinvest stagnant cash in expansion or paying back it's expensive debt - and has been ordered to ultimately eat itself do ya thinks ?
Big worry is that others may want to follow the dodge.
Woops - unfortunately the SP is collapsing by itself and this may ruin the plan temporarilly.
Wonder who really is in charge around here ?
Any other theories out there ?
Agreed B911 - a tragic situation for a small company sitting on a hyped reservoir it would seem.
I don't see a way out of it at the moment.
Genel paid today I see, and maybe DNO too ?
These two companies have solid management, and maybe even contracts which they are not afraid to enforce I guess.
Never mind - you UK'ers are free from the EU albatross in a few hours. Rejoice.
Probably we can expect a further staff award announcement for the shares mountain languishing in treasury I fear.
JF isn't stupid 'though - he will cancel a token % of them just to be seen to be fair to us pleasant peasants .
Time will tell........ and we won't be able to do diddly squat to stop it.
Can't imagine why - but maybe it is not politically prudent to re-confirm what Shaikan really holds while the Baghdad daily quota squabble continues ?
Historically I believe that Shaikan was being deliberately under-played because of Pa Barzani's plans for Kurd independence - "Hydrocarbon resources sufficient to kick-start a nation" was a quote around that era I seem to recall !
Hmmmm - Who is sitting on the bank balance for our overdue 2 months contributions ? (which were of course paid up-front to the MNR, as per usual).
Would be great news if the For Sale sign could be withdrawn mainshare but rampant local corruption and instability combined with underwhelming reservoir performance and content make Kurdistan in general and GKP in particular a nogo unfortunately.
Why do you think GENEL and DNO remain unsold and flatlined also ?
GKP management doing their best under the above constraints and the bullying policy of the MNR.
I am beginning to believe that the strategy around this buy back policy will ultimately turn out not to be in the best interest of private shareholders.
Who knows, maybe camels will eventually fly.
Mikey - is SA the neighbouring field which GKP found, appraised but could not afford to develop because they were not being paid by the MNR regularly ?
I think GKP had to pay to hand it back to the MNR - and from what you imply, Rosnyeft are now developing ?
Confused as usual, Angina.
Trying to catch up via here and AVDFN BB.....
Where I think we are: Pressure on all wells decaying seemingly. No ESPs installed to halt this. New well a drilling disaster.
Shaikan not as massive as was originally promoted within the official company website. Kurds have not fulfilled their previously agreed 250kbbls/day opbligation (yet). Finance supremo has just sold their 90k allocation of GKP shares (how come this person has shares to sell when they are currently residing "in treasury" ?). GKP now has c. £22M worth of shares bought back and awaiting carve-up as rewards among themselves (for achieving exactly WHAT ?). Did we receive late payment interest on the oil sales invoices which were held over to Jan2020 ? We were not sold on Monday 13Jan20 it would appear..... Has Hawrami been hauled up in the London Courts yet ?
Is there any Good News around GKP ?
My brain hurts.
