How does it work?

The airport has a PCR testing centre for arriving and departing passengers. Visitors will need to register and pay online for the test in advance of arriving. This is also available at Thessaloniki airport.

Location and opening hours?

Athens Medical Centre in Arrivals between exits 2 and 3. Open daily from 0700-2300.

Thessaloniki airport Arrivals level. Open daily 1000-1800.

How much does it cost and how long do results take?

The test costs €60, and results are available within 24 hours.

Look at it from the point of view of, say, Starbucks

30,000 outlets in the world. Coffee equipment has many a IoT sensor, eg temperature.

Starbucks wants all those machines connected using MS Azure Sphere (existing equipment, so a brownfield project). I saw a Channel 9 type video (that you had to register for, so no usable link) between the Starbucks CEO and Azure Sphere last September. The CEO spoke of a further 6 years using Azure Sphere to get that done.

As Josh (Azure Sphere) revealed in the Nov 4 2020 webinar with DA, they can do the over-the-air updates themselves, to the equipment (using AT&T for the global connectivity).

But the clients wants more (as John of DA) pointed out at the webinar (the layer on top (authorize/deauthorize.... issue/revoke TLS certificates).

Azure Sphere has to say red-faced, we're just a chip (OEM) manufacturer, we don't do that certificate stuff (agnostic, at GREAT scale, with no human intervention, ... ... so, to Azure Sphere, KeyScaler is a life saver, calming the extra demands of big clients like Starbucks.

Apart from the express Covid-19 test, flyers can also opt for a regular RT-PCR test. There is an RT-PCR Covid-19 testing facility available for all domestic arriving and departing passengers at Level 10 – Departures Area. My feeling yesterday was that the 11% intra-day rise was deserved, given the upsurge in US green stocks since Dec 23, and the Biden administration being supportive of the sector. That the MMs took it away suggests that they were filling big orders and needed weak sellers. To me the general trend (under Biden) is still strongly up.

If more destination countries insist on PCR test certificates (air travel), ncyt looks set to have a good year. Especially as the (lowest risk) age categories in the population would be lucky to have a vaccination by the summer. And they do the most travelling.

Airport users can choose to get a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test or an antibody test costing about 80,000 won ($73.2) and 50,000 won, respectively. Getting the negative result confirmation document costs another 30,000 won.

The PCR testing takes at least seven hours to get the result, and antibody testing, one hour. Visitors to the test facility should consider the time required for testing before departure.

The testing center will open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day, briefly closing between noon and 1 p.m. for lunch. The testing center takes reservations on its website, but visitors can apply for a Covid-19 test on-site.

Inha University Hospital President & CEO Kim Young-mo said the hospital was closely working with Incheon International Airport Corporation, the airport operator. “We will actively collaborate with the airport so that it could enhance domestic airports’ infrastructure for disease control and prevention,” he said.

Inha University Hospital and the Incheon International Airport Corporation plan to review expanding the Covid-19 testing center’s operation time and site, depending on the center’s performance.

The airport will provide a kiosk for issuing Covid-19 negative results at the departure hall of the passenger terminal from next year.

Given the shift towards PCR tests at airports, I would have expected to see ncyt go north today, eg by 5%

Some airlines or government officials require documented testing results for travel or upon arrival. Most destinations that have COVID-19 restrictions require a negative test result within 72 hours of travel to exempt the traveler from a mandatory quarantine.

The testing site, which is located at the main terminal of the airport, offers two tests: the PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test and the rapid antigen test.

The PCR test is the most popular among travelers, and gives results within 24 to 48 hours. The airport recommends travelers seek a PCR test three days before their departure in order to receive results in time. The rapid antigen test takes about five days for results.

At the airport testing site, BayCare charges $150 for PCR test and $60 for the rapid antigen test.

When the program launched, TPA became the first airport in the country to offer two types of FDA-approved COVID-19 tests for all departing and arriving passengers.

Testing services are offered on a walk-in basis, seven days a week. On Monday through Friday, the testing site is open from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday and Sunday.
