I 'sold' one third of my holding (EKT) for the buy back, now have the two thirds of CKT . Like many I presume, what I have read from the Co. and Investors Chronicle with new orders for the product sounds good.
I haven't worked out whether the present valuation is a 'fair' value, the spread seems a little rich and so I'll just hold for the time being.
Any views?

Wonder if MW is providing any covert funding?

I really do feel sorry for those people who lost money because of MW, it's actually shocking. But I would suggest that instead of suing Burford they should consider claiming against MW, perhaps by joining onto Burford's claim against MW. That would be interesting.

Many thanks for your thoughts and I concur with both posts, hopefully some cases will have finished and they will have enough cash without resort to raising more, i used to read a fair bit on the cases on ADFN by lawyers genned up but they seem to have disappeared when the board was polluted with the MW stuff.
So still lap of Gods territory , but just of late 18% up in one month is good going.
Hopefully also a US listing and success ful case against MW and the short trading manipulaters would help.
The press seems still to be very negative, but good news doesn't sell...

If the MW fiasco had not happened and based on last results etc. What do you estimate a true value range?
I know that's a tough one, given 'fair value' reporting etc.
Last results were good, but the SP went down considerably (and then the MW idiocy which I think still is seriously affecting the SP).

I wonder if Argentina's new president will be good news for BUR re: on-going Peterson case etc.
Glad to see the SP stabilising and I think now that markets are back to work after the summer hols and with BUR so cheap (like a good many UK stocks) that the SP will be going North, especially with news of US listing, possible share buy back and possible recompense from muddy waters and maybe some good news re: FSA re: market manipulation.
I'm looking forward to some positive RNS's....

Quite why this is down 6%, on profits of 600% (so says the report) mystifies me, but not surprises me as FDEV's attention to the market and shareholders is virtually non-existent, the pratt Braben needs to hire PR - he is the main drag to this **** poor share.

So are we expecting a big uplift in SP with results in Sept coming up, with the expected figures to be mega good over last years results it's the ideal time to issue an RNS about future releases.
Endion - 5 years is far too long a timespan for investors with this minnow, most have never heard of it - gamers and investors are two distinct species.
FDEV are good with news for gamers, hopeless with the markets, the years chart performance doesn't instill confidence

Cannacord say BUR's way of calculating profits is wrong and is considerably less than BUR states. BUR disputes this but has not made it public, they did so in an email to a PI, he posted it on ADFVN.
Bear in mind Cannacord own BUR's competitor MANO and have 9% of stock. The person who wrote the Cannacord article is not very experienced, 3 jobs in 3 years.
MANO stock is up a lot since the publication so Cannacord are laughing all the way to the bank, getting BUR investors to sell cheap and buy into MANO win-win for Cannacord.
It stinks, I hope it will end in a lawsuit. It maybe legal what Cannacord have done, but a blatant con none the less
Look at ADVFN BB and learn, then email BUR to demand they make public their refute.

The investment made is the price of a 2 bed house in Surrey, I think people have got carried away thinking it represents more than it is, perhaps it's dawned today...

"The CEO of Dubai-based Dalma Capital has described litigation as "the most attractive asset class we've seen" given its risk profile, the returns on offer and the relatively short amount of time that investors' capital is tied up.

Speaking on a panel at the AIM summit for alternative asset managers on Sunday, Zachary Cefaratti said that demand for litigation funding is set to double over the next five years, and that it offers the advantage of being "properly uncorrelated to financial markets".

"It's actually negatively correlated during downturns," he said, as both litigation and demand for funding tend to rise when economies are weaker.

"There's around $100-$150 billion of demand in the asset class but there's less than $10 billion funding it," Cefaratti said. "And that $10 billion has a turnover of 2-4 years. So we're looking at a market that is 5 percent funded at best."

"Although global figures for the industry are hard to track due to the secrecy of many deals, one of the biggest firms in the sector, Burford Capital, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange, reported some impressive numbers in its recent annual report filed last month.

The firm said that total shareholder returns since its formation in 2009 now stood at 1,845 percent, and that it had recovered more than $1 billion of investments in 92 cases funded from its own balance sheet so far. Such cases had achieved a 30 percent internal rate of return, net of losses and before operating expenses.

The firm, which had a $3.2 billion pipeline of cases at the end of 2018, also agreed a “strategic funding relationship” with an unnamed sovereign wealth fund in December worth $1 billion, where the sovereign fund would provide two-thirds of the capital and Burford Capital the remaining third."

Can someone please state a reason for the rise today, given that the only news I can find is the sale of shares.
SP on the retreat now at 10.53 am, was up circa 16% now about 9%
Not sure whether to buy for the longish term, say 2 years...
Not sure if this is good value now...

INMARSAT TO BE BOUGHT BY PRIVATE EQUITY GROUPS IN $3.4BN PACT

A consortium led by private equity groups Apax and Warburg Pincus is set to acquire satellite communications company Inmarsat in a deal that values the UK group at $3.4bn, the companies said on Monday.
Alongside Canada’s CPPIB and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board, the groups will pay $7.21 in cash per Inmarsat share and will take the entire group private.
The offer represents a 27 per cent premium to the closing price of £4.31 per Inmarsat share on March 18, the announcement said.
The deal is expected to be completed by the end of the year, pending regulatory approvals.
The group of investors said: “The satellite sector is attractive, with unique characteristics, including long lead times and the need for deep technical expertise, while operators in the sector require strategic management and a long investment horizon”.
The group also said Inmarsat was well placed “for growth based on its unique global infrastructure, leading technological and capacity road map and strong spectrum holdings”.
But the transaction comes after the satellite business, which will continue to be based in the UK, had struggled to attract investors because of recent poor performance. EchoStar, for instance, ditched a takeover attempt last year.

It emerged last week that the London-listed company had received a non-binding offer from the consortium. Previous interest from EchoStar and Eutelsat has raised hopes of a counterbid for the British company. However the large cash element of the the offer has cooled expectations that a rival offer will be placed.
J.P. Morgan Cazenove, PJT Partners and Credit Suisse advised Inmarsat on the potential transaction.

Who are ISAT'S main competitors? btw The Canadian Teachers outfit have very deep pockets, I would think the offer is too low and will hopefully be raised if they can stand up to the competitors - ie, they are better at what they do.

I am not clued up to EKT at all apart from their website and bits of press, but posters on ADVFN seem to be writing of very bad stuff - direct by the company to Directors gain/shareholder loss. And the wider market for EKT products shrinking.

Time to sell out?

It's a damn shame if so, not many shares doing this well over the last 8 months.

Stating the 15% drop in SP since Institutions bought the new shares tranche some weeks ago, and so private investors can now buy in cheaply. Unfortunately I'm not a subscriber to Shares mag. so didn't see whole article but it was their No. 1 article in their on-line web page

In the general market I mean, all of my shares are down, even Fundsmith equity has fallen a lot in 5 days or is it the October effect only I wonder. Burford falling 20% is a worry as there is no obvious reason that I can glean from anywhere
