Can’t see why they’d sell any at the moment IF they are part of the new placing. Maybe sell at a profit and use the cash to reinvest fresh money with better tax terms. Hope not as that’s a lot of sells if they do. Thought they might build up their stake. Who knows.

Manchester-headquartered biotechnology company Epistem has confirmed plans to raise £6.5m through a major share placing and the business has also signalled its intention to change name.

The company has announced the details of a fundraising of £6.5m before expenses by means of a conditional placing through Peel Hunt with new and existing investors of 8.2 million shares at a price of 80p. The issue price represents a discount of 11.1 per cent on the mid-market closing price on 22 June 2016.

Cornerstore investor Calculus Capital has subscribed for 3.2 million shares and on admission will have an interest in 16.7 per cent of the company's shares. The new ordinary shares will represent 43.5 per cent of the company's overall share capital.

In addition, Epistem has revealed that it plans to change its name to Genedrive to better reflect the process of its activities.

Both the placing and the change of name are subject to shareholder approval.

David Budd, chief executive of Epistem, said: "We are very pleased to announce this fundraising which saw demand from new and existing investors.

"We are excited in the future of Genedrive in bringing the power of hospital-based, central laboratory diagnostics closer to the point of need and the patient setting. These new funds put us in a strong position to deliver on Genedrive's potential and expand its testing capabilities."

Calculus exited Epistem ( genedrive of course) in 2014. Did ok on price in and out, 100%

Ok thanks, so M&G sold down under 5%. Not great timing by them.
But Calculus don’t appear on the Times shareholder listing, maybe it’s wrong. When did they get involved as they are the largest holder?

7th Feb, what a difference Covid has made of course,
genedrive is not a large company by global standards. It has a market capitalization of UK£2.8m, which means it wouldn’t have the attention of many institutional investors. In the chart below, we can see that institutional investors have bought into the company. We can zoom in on the different ownership groups, to learn more about genedrive.
Since institutional investors own more than half the issued stock, the board will likely have to pay attention to their preferences. It looks like hedge funds own 5.4% of genedrive shares. That’s interesting, because hedge funds can be quite active and activist. Many look for medium term catalysts that will drive the share price higher. Investec Wealth & Investment Limited is currently the company’s largest shareholder with 19% of shares outstanding. With 15% and 12% of the shares outstanding respectively, M&G Investment Management Limited and Bgf Investment Management Limited are the second and third largest shareholders.

Additionally, we found that 52% of the shares are owned by the top 4 shareholders. In other words, these shareholders have a meaningful say in the decisions of the company.

It's daft to compare share prices and not look at shares in issue to compare market cap, as many have already pointed out.

By the same token I think it's also a little naive to keep comparing us to NCYT as they as of 28 April they had sold, received orders for or has been contracted to deliver over £90 million of its COVID-19 test and is supplying to more than 100 countries including the US. We could end up beating those numbers months down the line, but is more speculative at this stage of course but we have other products also.

I can see iis selling more next week if they are part of the 80p funding, which is probably the case as making a real turn on they’re money. But if they originally bought these at a cheaper price, I don’t see the point of doing it to be honest.

So the price dropped 10 to 20% just by an ii selling 1M shares....that’s worrying as the price moves up when more get sold?
Other shares tend to just flatten with ii sales or a small loss on the day. I’ll look back to see when they invested and at what price.

1p doubled every day for a 31-day month, would grow to a staggering £10.7m. ... Those that are willing to take the 1p, and have it doubled every day for a month would end up with over 10 times the amount of money than those who opted for the million straight up.....

Yes, the RSI hit 35 at £1.40, the lowest for nearly 3 months, it was oversold. Another opportunity I missed! lol

What an amazing recovery. Well done to everyone that had the nerve to buy at around £1.40, great timing it seems and looks like £1.45 was the support level, which was Monday's price! I thought it was between £135/£1.50 as per my note yesterday and this morning but didn't have the bottle.....

If I bought in at 25p, I wouldn't worry either.
But think of all those that bought at £2 and above, have a heart -- and whay you didn't take any profits when £2 and above is beyond me. Cash and profit is king, greed is what can kill.
