Investment: 600 million dollars for the realization of the phosphate project in Congo

A delegation of investors, led by the South African businessman, Patrice Motsepe, was received in audience on April 25, in Pointe-Noire, by President Denis Sassou N'Guesso. The two parties discussed the evolution of the phosphate investment project to be carried out in Congo.

“We came to give more information on the work we are doing in the framework of the project we have in Congo. The idea is to inform the president about the quality of Congolese phosphate and its development. We are going to bring 600 million dollars in terms of investment for this phosphate project. Also, we will come back very quickly because we want this pilot project to progress quickly so that we can move forward at the right pace in this one,” said Patrice Motsepe, after the audience with President Denis Sassou N'Guesso.

According to the South African businessman, the key ambition is to keep the bet so that the project is realized as quickly as possible. “We will very quickly come back to report to the president and the minister as the project evolves. Our presence in Pointe-Noire is also an opportunity for us to see the magnificent project that has been launched between the Congolese government and Eni to know that our project will buy part of the energy electricity,” he added . .

Veteran10 Anyone seriously interested in acquiring Zanaga has been fully aware for a long time now, of not only the quantity and quality of what we have but of all the obstacles in the way of getting it to market. Slowly but surely potential cost effective solutions have and continue to be found. Hopefully, this latest news concerning the "new mole port" is the final box that needed to be ticked off. Also, with all the talk now of "green steel" and the enhanced world wide demand for our "high grade " ore, then the value of what we now have is far higher than what we could have hoped to achieve in the past few years. Lets just hope that the wait wil have been really worth while.

The announcement made by Marwan Radwan, head of the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia received in audience by the Minister of International Cooperation and Promotion of Public-Private Partnership, Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso, on February 14 in Brazzaville, s part of the strengthening of relations between the Congo and the Gulf monarchy.

The rapprochement between Brazzaville and Riyadh should be further materialized with the establishment of a diplomatic representation. "When we talk about the opening of an embassy, ??it means that cooperation must be strengthened, the latter therefore comes in the wake of strengthening relations between our two countries", declared Marwan Radwan.

The opening of the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Brazzaville should make it possible to adapt the cooperation of the two States to their priorities and strategic options on the economic level. "Now that a diplomatic representation will be set up in our country, let us seize this opportunity to develop the projects which appear in our National Development Plan (PND) 2022-2026", underlined the Congolese Minister for International Cooperation and Promotion of public-private partnership, Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso

"We have, during this meeting, presented the six pillars of this NDP and we have asked our partners to focus on these axes within the framework of our cooperation", he added .

The PND, an economic program, is divided into six priority areas, namely agriculture, digital technology, tourism, real estate, industry and special economic zones. Its overall budget is estimated at more than 8,987 billion FCFA, with a gap of approximately 6,500 billion FCFA to be sought from donors. “It is an ambitious national plan that requires significant resources and we need a partner like Saudi Arabia to support us, in particular through the public-private partnership financing mechanism. Since we now have a law that has been promulgated since January 12, 2023, we will therefore rely heavily on it to try to finance, by the end of the five-year term, many projects contained in this PND”,indicated Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso.

Through this PND, the executive intends to move the Republic of Congo from an oil rent economy to a strong, diversified and resilient national economy. This is also the first time that Iron Ore production has been highlighted in discussions with the IMF as a sustained source of income to the country. Previously it had only ever been mainly oil reserves. What is really interesting though is the statement about Sangha Mining Development interested in mining another iron ore deposit.
