Michigan Gaming Control Board are “cautiously optimistic we’re going to have something this week or the very first part of next week to relay to the public."

"The board will be approving the first operation licenses very soon. After that, licensed operators will need a few days before going live with their platforms."

The casino industry has seen a frenzy of deal-making around sports wagers and online betting, driven in part by the surging stock price of DraftKings Inc., an industry leader. Just this week, MGM Resorts International announced an $11 billion offer for Entain Plc, parent of the Ladbrokes betting shops and other online wagering businesses.

“There’s a real pressure to make sure you’re in position to cash in on the pretty substantial thirst for online gambling,” said Chris Grove, an analyst at Eilers & Krejcik Gaming LLC. “A lot of companies were caught by surprise by the kind of explosion it’s received.”

Gamesys Group has announced an “outstanding operational performance” for 2020, despite the significant global setbacks posed throughout the year by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Group’s Board is confident that FY 2020 Revenue and Adjusted EBITDA at or above the ‘upper end of current market expectations’ will be reported, following a strong trading performance recorded in the fourth quarter of the year.

iGaming is expected to go live in Michigan imminently following approval by the State’s Gaming Control Board, with Gaming Realms having already signed deals with a number of licensed operators.

Michigan represents a large opportunity for the firm, with gaming website Gaming Sharp estimating that the 10 million population state could become one of the biggest markets for sports betting and legal online gambling in the US. It is looking for a total market size of $650 million in the first year, with the online casino and online poker segment estimated to be worth $250 million in revenue.

We note that in the more mature New Jersey market, which has a slightly lower population than Michigan (8.9 million), total gaming revenues in the 11 months to November 2020 were $870.89 million, meaning the Michigan forecasts could prove to be conservative in the longer term.

That RNS on its own can’t have caused this massive rise, however it may have triggered someone who already had plans to buy up stock to jump in before the SP sky-rockets any higher.

Why do I think that RNS can’t have triggered such a huge rise? Because we already knew the content of it weeks before and so did anyone else with a vested interest in this company.

Please note, not just applied for but “now awarded” was public knowledge on 15 December, three weeks before the RNS.

We also know they’re expecting to launch in West Virginia in the spring via Rush Street and, like I said, anyone else with a vested interest in this company will also be aware of this.

It’s worth bearing in mind two things:

1) Many states are starting to approve online sports betting, but not necessarily online casinos - they are treated as two separate types of gambling in the US – so any time actual casino apps are approved it’s a massive win for companies like ours and should jump us up to another level, making us more costly for a potential bidder.

2) Our partner in the US (Rush Street) is the NO 1 ONLINE CASINO OPERATOR BY REVENUE IN THE U.S. We are playing with the big boys and they will know what makes them money and what is undervalued.

I don't want this to get bought out because I'd rather WE got rich off the back of it than someone else, but by the way these shares are getting soaked up it looks like the sharks are starting to circle. Let's hope it's just big investors buying in with a view to watching these fly over the next year or two.

GMR is set to launch in Spain, Portugal, Greece, Switzerland, Italy and Denmark in 2021 as well as Pennsylvania and Michigan in the US, and any other states that might offer them a licence (e.g. W Virginia).

If it rises after each announcement, what will the SP be in a year's time?

With continued expansion in the States, GMR may want to go the route of a NASDAQ listing at some point like GAN did, but there's a lot of consolidation going on in this sector at the moment, so someone could certainly put a bid in for the company IMO.

I’ve only found this mentioned on one site and can’t see it anywhere else. I’m surprised GMR wouldn’t be obliged to RNS something like this.

According to law360.com (who refer to themselves as “a trusted news source for legal professionals, business leaders, and government officials”) this is happening:

River Game Operations (River iGaming) is suing GMR and its subsidiary Alchemy Bet for €1.5 million to cover the money it lost when they delivered software that fell foul of gambling regulations in Malta and Sweden, according to newly public Nov. 26 particulars of claim.

Case number QB-2020-004173 in the High Court (date not yet known).

You can sign up for free for 7 days to read full article but that’s basically the gist of it. From a quick internet search you can see a lot of operators appear to have fallen foul of Swedish regs on bonus payouts etc as they seem pretty tough and a lot end up appealing in the Swedish courts.

This is the original agreement but since then the new online casino this venture created - Casonic – has closed down and River iGaming has closed the whole of its B2C operations and rebranded as River Tech plc.
