I have encountered takeovers in the past that have gone through at a price that was disappointing when compared to the figures that people were hoping for - Faroe Petroleum and Emerald Enegy are two that spring to mind. However I don't think that shareholders here would be as willing to agree to a low ball offer, and in any case would a project like this not flush out competitive bids? The lack of institutional shareholders would also make getting support for a low ball takeover difficult.

Managed to add nearly 40,000 shares to my ISA there. Didn't quite catch the bottom but not far off it. I think thie SP has been dragged down by everything around it but with no tariffs I would have thought that the drop is rather overdone for this particular share. loads of oil in a safe country, supportive government and everything about it seems to be positive. Very happy to be in this position at this point. And the sun is shining!

Yes, this is a very good forum, unlike some. Not much sign here of the type of unremittingly negative locusts on MATD for example - that board is pretty much unreadable. I much prefer the knowlegeable and informed posts that we get on PANR.

This is just minor profit taking - if the flow test is in line with what PANR have predicted (200 bopd for that section IIRC), it will continue the upward trend.

There may well be a raise coming at some point but probably by that time we'll be in double figures. Had a raise been imminent and the news had leaked, the SP wouldn't have gone up 50%; it would have dropped.

09:46 - I think there's a lot more headroom to come. Megrez already seems to be exceeding expectations, or rather the current expectations are now exceeding the previous expectations. I would agree that Pantheon must now be attracting attention from big oil companies. Where we end up may not be with full development of the assets, but with a takeover. Hopefully in a competitive bidding scenario. Previously held shares in oilers (for example Faroes, Emerald and others) where I ended up a bit disappointed as I was hoping to see the companies' SPs a lot higher before they sold out. However I think Pantheon is in a different league and likely to be fought over, which means a better price.

I'd hazard a guess it's people taking profits and the assumption that it will be a couple of weeks before flow testing gets under way. I topped up yesterday which was obviously a day or two too soon but by this time next month I'd expect to be well into profit on the latest tranche. Overall I'm about 180% up at the moment and we've barely got started. This slight pull back is quite normal and all it needs to get us back on the upward thrend is an RNS, which we're told will be arriving soon.

Thanks Scot126, I'm very much invested in PANR because of the fundamentals (which look excellent to me and seem to be improving week on week. I just noticed that there often seemed to be a wee dip early on and a recovery later and wondered of there was any real reason for it. I tend to the default position that MMs need the SP to move for them to make money so stasis is not good for encouraging trade.

I have 215,000 of these at an average of just over 20p and those fundamentals are telling me to keep holding - I'm certainly not a trader and probably won't be selling until we get taken over (which I think is probably what will happen in due course. Seen it happen so many times before, a takeover before a share reaches its full potential).

This always seems to fall back after a rise on good news. i'm still of the opinion that it has something to do with shorts being closed and MMs shaking some shares loose to allow the shorters to reduce their exposure. A few times this has happened now and often it recovers in the afternoon. Let's see how it goes later today.

A premature takeover is always a worry but that would in itself push the SP a lot higher. And I assume any low ball bid would be dismissed out of hand. Maybe when we reach a fiver a share we can invite a bidding war.

14:30 - I was just speculating - the RNS specifically alludes to the appointment being to assist in getting a US listing - I don't think that would do any harm to the SP so might explain the slight increase in SP subsequent to the RNS being released. I know nothing about Grant Thornton so can't really add anything about any other related matters that might have affected the SP. I wouldn't however be at all surpised if Mangrove's short disappeared given the recent SP action, and that in itself would probably give a slight boost to the SP.

23:57, I also held Hummingbird, what a disaster that turned into. This is no Hummingbird. PANR seems to be a well managed company doing the right things. Hummingbird was run by crooked idiots. Alaska is a different kettle of fish to West Africa.

Just been looking at my spreadsheet and I see I bought about 33,000 shares at the end of June 2023 at a price of 12.47p. I hadn't realised it had dropped that far.

PANR seem to have massive reserves of oil and at the moment the big companies are just letting them get on with it. A coule of times in the past I have held shares in other oil companies that were snapped up before they had reached their full potential, so yes, it's probably a no brainer that something similar might happen with PANR. However I think even if we didn't get the full potential value of PANR, any sale would certainly be at many multiped of the current SP - the climb in share price hasn't even really begun yet, but suddenly we seem to have the wind in our sails and all the positive things we could wish for happening at the same time. even if we don't see it out to full fruition, I expect to be a lot wealthier in the coming months and years.

Still looks to me like someone closing a short, aided and abetted by MMs. Been going on for a while now, sometimes in the morning with a rise later in the day.
