There is a lot of international interest at stake in these waters, and I doubt Iran would want to block the Strait as they wouldn't then be able to ship oil to their own major customer - China.

My guess is there will be increasing military escorts/convoys if tensions escalate.

This episode, IMO, is a tit for tat back to the British. The next event will likely be the one to watch.

Perhaps there was a little tease of this, with the 2nd tanker yesterday, although it was a minor in the scheme of things.

Iran saying 2nd tanker wasn't seized, and is now returning to normal course.

Having said that, both Brent & WTI have dropped below their rising trend channel lines, so all options on the table. Could be a further sudden drop in oil yet, if history is anything to go by.

Had I been looking to purchase, then yes, the trading update would have inspired me that the company was looking like a good investment - getting debt under control, with lots of quality exploration/development projects in the pipeline. Catcher performing well, near-term Tolmount coming online, Zama looking like a great asset with similar potential nearby, 43% of production hedged at a price higher than current market price, keeping the financiers happy, low OPEX etc etc.

What is TD not saying that you think is so lacking?

Oil price weakness. I'd say the (temporary?) calming of the Iran situation and the US-China deal looking more distant, so lesser demand & lots of supply. A change in any of these two could quickly swing it the other way.

Then again, TD might be the reason, given the recent 'lacklustre' trading update. LOL
