Well, evidence of manipulation in one stock is not evidence of it in another, but I take your point. It's hard to know for sure, but whatever it is, we have to accept that there are 'professionals' out there that understand the machinations much better than we do and have vastly superior bank balances - so at the end of the day you take your chances playing in their arena.

I am still out for now. Too much sheeet going in the markets! Am trying to cast my mind back to the last time things got nasty in the markets and all the warning signs that were present at the time, but which most overlooked, wondering if the same (early) signs are showing now?!

You must have balls of steel to keep holding as you do. What if this drops to 40/50p due to global economic woes? Are you still going to keep holding, or bail out somewhere (lower)? I don't envy the stress that such a holding must bring given the volatility of late!!

I think that was me earlier today, TR61.

PMO is always heavily traded, for obvious reasons, and so the swings are more pronounced than in some other oil stocks. It's a bit of a stretch to call it 'manipulation' though in the absence of clear evidence IMO. Not that we'd recognise the evidence if we saw it, anyway!

It's hard to call it either way EMC, but purely from a chart perspective I don't like the look of it.

But then anything could happen. Middle East could blow up, or some mug might tweet something out of the blue, sending oil the other way.

Ergo: casino!

For all you TA buffs out there, it does look like oil has rebounded within it's downtrend channel.
I was watching to see if there would be a breakout, but probably not with US bond news out today.

Add in the new shale pipelines coming on stream in the US, and even Saudi Arabia reducing output to 7mb/day to try to quell the drop in oil price as the market seems to be awash with oil.

Iranian oil still seems to be getting sold on the sly too. Is China buying? Articles yesterday seem to think so, but how much? In defiance of the US?

We were at 140p around a year ago.

The deadline for debt restructuring is getting nearer all the time, with a weakening oil price, rumours of global economic slowdown and decreasing oil demand. Makes you wonder why the vultures (shorters) are circling again...

There was a really good article/brokers note recently covering this - was it from Barclays? Anyone remember or got the link? Ta.

Shorters & manipulation? Maybe the drop today is just profit taking after yesterday? Perhaps a sensible strategy. No voodoo involved!

I am predicting that we will see an article in the weekend press (The Telegraph?) saying that PMO are interested in some of Exxon's North Sea assets. It would coincide nicely with the increasing short position. What, what?!
