Rob - the trade analysis shows that the Sells do not balance the Buys, even with me being generous and generally veering on the side of Sells if the spread is too tight to call. Today's price inversion is impossible to really call though, unless you were watching the RSP.

gkb47 - I never said a specific MM was short by that amount - the trade analysis only ever can talk about the complete basket of Market Makers taken in summation. Also there are 7 MMs and if one wishes to exert control over the market to drive the price down then what they have to do is to appear to be able to sell shares cheaply. Whether they succeed in doing this is somewhat dependent on the reaction of the market and the other market makers, and whether they have any medium term positions or not. If not then they don't really care what the biggest boy in the playground gets up to.

Richken - actually I asked what was the thing you were most excited about - not necessarily the biggest influence on our growth. Maybe the difference is not that important - and maybe my question was more subjective than yours.

My perspective is that the relationship that has been created with the South African Industrial Development Corporation, UET, the US Trade and Development Agency, Eskom, the World Bank, Bushveld Energy and Bushveld Minerals is the most exciting thing to come out from the last 4 years of BE work. Of course the huge 1440MWh Eskom BESS battery project is the potential short term win from such an arrangement but even if we only win a part of this BMN+BE will have demonstrated how government agencies and business can work together to generate jobs and provide improved renewable infrastructure in parts of South Africa that struggle to even get a reliable energy supply. This may have profound positive knock-on effects in other parts of the SA economy and in other parts of Africa, not just positive benefits for BMN+BE.

Epic - thanks for that observation, I missed putting it into the trade analysis. Whatever happened in the last 5 minutes is anyone's guess when you have a market inversion (i.e. Sell price above Buy price).

Of course the Market Makers wishing to buy shares at X+delta are not the same Market Makers as are selling those same shares at only X. In principle they could simply trade amongst themselves to resolve this obvious mismatch, but we have seen that they clearly don't so what are we to conclude ? 1) that one market maker is desperate to give shares away at low prices or 2) another market maker is in desperate need of shares and wishes to pay over the odds.

Clearly trading amongst themselves would resolve this conflict without any apparent impact on the market so we might also conclude that this course of action is not taken because someone wishes the Market to take a message. In the light of this point of view, and the overall context of the last 6 weeks, one might conclude that 1) is the more credible interpretation.

zeus - a very interesting observation - especially the fact that the actual price to sell was 40.15 after 16:25. There's also a couple of trades at 40.155 so I will mark these down as buys with the accumulation-distribution line being drawn at precisly 40.1525p.

As far as the Bid goes the trades after that time also reflect that the advertised bid is waving up and down as you describe - however I am guessing that you were also observing the RSP at the time so the question is whilst this particular Market Maker was messing about with the advertised bid were they also do the same on the RSP market - if not then you might be tempted to view this as a form misrepresentation and market abuse.

Knuttie - of course the seller Sells have not be displayed yet, because if they had they would have entered into the daily trade analysis and would have already offset the large buying excess. The MMs are simply working the trade behind the scenes and out of sight. If someone wishes to pitch up and sell them shares cheaply then they will take them thank you very much and simply string out the seller for a bit longer. The occasional rerates up to 45-48p are simply to allow them to sell shares to PIs at some nice high prices. Eventually the share sell overhang will finish, or some major news will arrive and the buying day traders will pitch up with a tsunami of buys that will finish off the overhang. As each day passes the end simply gets one day closer. I think news will arrive first.

biganuf - you are completely missing the point which is about electricity generated from low carbon renewable sources. Off-peak will be in the middle of the day soon. You need to read up on the duck curve.

Daisydog - it was the London Stock Exchange, a private company, that 'fined' BMN for following its lawyer's advice, not the FCA who have a legal responsibility to take action against Market abusers. Let us not confuse the two.

Richken - thank you for sharing that with us - the scum that regularly visit this board aren't fit to hold a candle to what you have written and are currently going through.

It is the strength of people like you, NickD, knuttie, sanchez and pdub, not to mention Corbine and many others that have also been touched by serious illness that has helped to make this board what it is today. We owe it to all of those to continue fighting for the truth.
