I do like how reliable these short-term spread tightening things are - the slow incremental movement of the price to sell or to buy comes about as a result of competition amongst the different market makers to be on the top of the real Bid or Ask - you don't see any of this in L2 but you do on the RSP market. Once there are no more shares to sell (or Buy) by the MMs in question then something else happens - so a short period of predictable behaviour followed then by something else...

Expert - but you probably won't want to give 20% of your profits away in CGT - hence may have to spend a few years taking the money out slowly, transferring it into an ISA, get a wife/husband to split the CGT allowance with, etc

you should not beat yourself up for not being able to predict the future. Sometimes round number prices present a challenge to a rising Share Price, and obviously sometimes they do not. Unless you know how many shares our tame seller wishes to sell, and at what price, you have no way to know whether 50p will be persistently breached this time or not.

bassguy - yep I spotted those almost immediately - of course the UT trade is one that occurred through the public though not exactly rigorous process of the end day auction. The trade at 41.00p two minutes later is rather close in size, which may of course be a coincidence.

it is interesting that the 3,800 trade at 16:15 shows the somewhat unusual 'PRIC' flag (stop sniggering at the back there) whilst the same sized trade two minutes earlier does not. Anyone know owt about PRIC's ?

I'm happy to accept 30% dilution to double the production from 5000 tpa to 10,000 tpa. Any other response would I think be somewhat naive, not to say greedy. If it can be avoided I would be happy squared.

This is remarkable because South Africa is currently generating something like 85% of its electricity from coal, having huge coal reserves. Even there batteries are needed, not for dealing with very small renewables inputs, but just for making the grid operate properly.

SotRR - I agree when you say that higher prices are here to stay, in fact Terry Perles came to the same conclusion, even completely discounting ANY DEMAND from take-up of VRFB's.

This is a figure some 45,000 tpa larger than worldwide production now.

Tyfoon - if it was someone else shorting the share to any great extent then there would be more Sells than Buys since the price was first above 48p. But it appears that the opposite is true - >10M more PI Buys than PI (+the hypothetical shorter) Sells - this is exactly the situation that would appear if the MMs were working a Share overhang.

Mikinaman - no the Market Makers do this all day every day on maybe all the shares they can get in with the holders of. Perhaps a move to SETS, or joint listing, will make it harder to play the games but the simply point for PI's is to understand these games, to some extent, so that they don't simply fall into the obvious traps. As Warren Buffett states the best thing to do is find a very good company with a large margin of safety and hold for a long time so that you get experience all the genuine ups.
