It's an interesting one RK - of course the actual pump price that the tax take is based upon is not directly proportional to the cost of the crude oil as there are always the refining costs to be added on - so oil companies that are refiners too will be in the main protected from these drops. It's a bit like Bushveld's vertically integrated mine-to-batteries approach. Control the upstream commodity and in the end you can control the downstream products too.

YTSS - the amount that the SP moves following an excess of buys or sells varies wildly from one day to another. Thus there is no guideline as to how much it moves if there is a 30K sell of a 100K buy. It all depends on the situation - that is to say the history of what has happened with each Market Maker before (i.e. their position), the strategy that they may be playing (eg a shorting strategy or selling down a tame seller's block that they may have secured) and their view of the future (both the short-term traders' sentiment and their expectation of news ahead, depending upon how much they may have managed to glean from their buddies the brokers.)

In the case of friday it would appear that the Market Makers were simply taking advantage of the Corona panic to try and target some leveraged holdings sub 19p in order to get shares cheaply that would fulfil their own requirements to close a short, or to stock up ahead of big news coming.

Endion - that would indeed be a problem if it was a permanent situation. However it is not and so the key is to find a company that is undervalued on AIM which will manage to make it off AIM to a market where real investors actually invest.

If they are giving the old batteries away for free then that changes the economics, but who wants to take the safety risk in their own homes of using batteries without a known history?

RK - of course Glencore will have been using the locked-in opportunity to stockpile product from Largo whilst it was at low prices. They may manage to exert some control over the price of Vanadium via their trading networks, but the point is once it is no longer in their interest to keep it low then we will see what happens.

USD 750-950 per KW for a a battery that has a duration of 1.29 hours works out at USD 581 - 736 per KWh.

Ahh but Alfacomp you are surely deceiving us because you are comparing an 8 hour battery with a 1.29 Hour one !

Alas not trolls, for an 8 hour battery can only be made from 1.29 hour ones by having 6 times as many batteries (6.2 to be precise) - so the cost per KWh stays the same.

A VRFB flow battery on the other hand can simply be scaled to 8 hour duration by putting more electrolyte in the tank hence longer durations scale at sublinear cost.
