This is a similar story to Stina resources and Cellcube/Enerox - basically the Vanadium price spike and subsequent drop did for their integrated Vanadium mines-to-batteries plans.

Those listening to the interview may be asking themselves if 2,800 GWh is a big number.

Those who know how big a number it is will be wondering if this is a mistake.

The answer is NO. It is no mistake. 2,800 GWh is exactly in line with the NREL energy storage report that shows there is the opportunity to provide upwards of 464 GWh of battery capacity to displace peaker plants, JUST IN THE USA ( https://www.nrel.gov/docs/fy19osti/74184.pdf )

2,800 GWh if provided by VRFBs would require 12.6 Million tonnes of Vanadium.

At $200/KWh CAPEX this would cost $560 Billion and require 100 years of Vanadium production at the current rather pathetic rate that we mine it at. There is plenty of Vanadium in the ground so we need to step up Vanadium production rapidly and BMN is clearly leading the way in that.

The only valid remaining question to ask is why haven't the US dominated energy storage media not been shouting this from the rooftops. I will let you work that one out.

knuttie - there is another possibility that raises it's head from the points that you have so correctly made.

It could simply be an institutional investor that has told a market maker that they want their help to build as large a stake as possible. Drive the price down, freak out the amateur private investor's, pay a few no hopers to have a bash on the bulletin boards and hey presto you can go from a million pounds worth of shares at 10.3p (10M shares) up to 50p sell down for months at an average price of 35p, then nab yourself 35 Million at less than 10p a share. Let the price rise to where it should be and they could be looking at 35Million quids worth, all for a starting stake of 1M.

The only thing that this strategy really needs to work is a compliant Market Maker and a shareholder base that can be played for fools.

Renewables didn't happen because the oil was too expensive, it has happened because continuing to burn the oil is going to be too expensive when we try and undo the effects of climate change. If oil had to pay to capture the CO2 it injects into the atmosphere it would be $200 a barrel more expensive.

You see coffeecups I have had the pleasure of meeting and speaking to Alberto Arias on many occasions - whilst he is a very polite and very well dressed man he would be the first to admit that he is not in the same league as Mikhail when it comes to knowing everything that there is to know about Vanadium Flow Batteries and stationary energy storage.

Furthermore whilst they were getting their legs amputated by Glencore last year we were buying up new production capacity and the downstream VRFB manufacturing companies.

Indeed stone coal production is the most expensive of the production techniques then coproduction from Vanadium sl-a-g and then primary production from ore, which is the cheapest. Largo is the cheapest producer because it has the newest mine, then Rhovan because it is running at a slightly larger production rate than we are at Vametco, which is third of the primary producers. Vametco is still cheaper than 90% of co-producers and about half the price of stone coal.
