If you turn a significant amount of this into Vanadium electrolyte it could be worth somewhat more.

knutsford - well neither Vametco or Vanchem are brand new so I guess the accountants would have some kind of depreciation thing they apply. Unlike a PC which is worth bugger all after 3 years because they keep upgrading the software and are flogging new PCs like they are going out of style a Vanadium processing plant is not something that you simply find lying around on the high street - there has only been a single significant one built new in the last 10 years that I know off (Largo, natch). So depreciation models may go out of the window at that point.

It's a bit like those RD-180 rocket engines made in Russia in the 1960's and which were still powering US Atlas launchers last year. Standard depreciation theory would have no doubt valued those things at zero after the 1990's but that is clearly not correct for something that is so special.

Pat48 - it is my opinion that they are simply trying to jump on the VRFB bandwagon. However they are 5 years too late.

Pat48 - if you look at the Mokopane PFS then you will see that it is perhaps nearer 100 Million USD for just the mine and magnetic concentration circuits, then another 200 Million if you wanted to build a salt roast processing plant.

Ironveld has always been primarily pitched as a pig-iron production plant, with a bit of Vanadium sl-a-g on the side. They currently have zero profile in either the Vanadium or VRFB world that I am aware of. Remember Stina.

I'd recommend everyone have a watch of that video it is most informative and entertaining and punctures a lot of the university originated (I'm sorry to say) hype in the field of battery energy storage.

The fact that it is listed on the gov.uk website is really sadly telling. The government are desperate to claim that they are in with the battery storage revolution but really they do not have a clue what they are talking about.
