Yes, that's right; if you take the current sp of 0.6p, each new share would be worth 30p and the overall value of the holding in your portfolio will be the same. You can forget all about the deferred shares, they have no value and you'll never see them.

All the deferred shares will be held by the company secretary of BLR on the shareholders' behalf – they won't appear in your portfolio, nor will there be a certificate – so you don't have to worry about selling them – or worry about them at all in fact – they effectively have no value, their purpose is only to reduce the nominal value of the new consolidated shares. All of the actual market value will be transferred to the new consolidated shares, which is all that matters. Often when new shares are issued for a fundraising, they are sold at a discount to the market price, so the new lower nominal value will give BLR some leeway when negotiating with the institutional investors who'll be buying them. In itself the consolidation is a non-issue. The fundraising, though in itself disappointing (as it will dilute everyone's holdings), is necessary to move the many projects forward and that is the only way BLR can deliver value to shareholders. What is important is that BLR has an impressive portfolio, with a real star in Acacia; we could be in for very exciting times ahead :)

Unfortunate, but not really all that important – this deal was just about getting some revenue flowing in, rather than a potential major find. Acacia is the one that matters and we should be getting news in the next few weeks.

Bought my holding back this afternoon as the sp was recovering back to towards my selling point and have taken the opportunity to go in a little heavier again (2.5x my normal punt now). Should probably have just been patient this morning, but was nervous there was something sinister behind the fall, the recovery now has restored my faith (for now anyway!). Thanks for the info leedskier – Russia is certainly a dangerous place to be for a foreign oil company.

Sold out this morning – will probably turn out to be the bottom – but thought I may as well lock in a small profit and see where they go. Down and they are worth buying back. Up and they are worth buying back. A bit perplexed to why the sp hasn't performed the way we were hoping – this story helps – but there must be more to it than that.

I've found a home for RVA in my long term portfolio, having bought about a month ago, currently at about a 20% loss, so some good news is welcome. I was thinking short term when I bought them (as always) but bearing in mind they had long term potential. I agree that nuclear is the best option for electricity generation, but there is also interesting carbon capture technology being developed for coal fired power stations (where the carbon is captured and stored using some of the energy produced by the power station). Personally, I'm not so sure about electric cars though, I wouldn't want to drive one. With Ethanol we can keep all the engine technology we already have (and the existing vehicles themselves) while helping a traditional industry like farming.

Missed out on about 90p of today's rise, getting back in at 1257, but at least I was shielded from the potential fall if it had gone against them and I've gone in heavier this time to try to compensate!! Decided to take profits after this morning's rise (6% after costs); I'm nervous about today's decision on the licences, although the market would appear to be optimistic. Going to watch closely though, could well be more money to be made today.

The MMs must have seen my comment on SOLA and dropped the sp below 1080 for me to get in ;) Risked a T20 without a firm price, which came through above though! A return to the recent trading range highs above 1200 should net a 10% profit, with the tantalising possibility of 1500 as and when the reserves issue is sorted out.

Looks like you were right to hold, currently 535-542.25, although I can't see any sign of an announcement as yet. I'm not going to moan though as I sold the RCG I bought this morning for an 18.5% profit in a day - lucky timing admittedly :) - still thinking about IEC but holding out for 1080 (my previous buy). There is also money to be made on ETL, but also a high possibility of first degree burns to the fingers, so just watching for now.

Ro(w)ing - out in the kayak already?! Something of a SOLA flare this morning; they hovered just under the 500p barrier for a while but have now breached it, showing 501.5-504.5. If it holds, we could be seeing a proper breakout.
