The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
@ Peterperfect why would someone with a larger holding be squirming ? You already mentioned you are up 20% so if they invested say 50k then they are up a lot more than your investment. I’m one of this people and well above 50k level and not squirming what so ever as already in a nice profit.
It’s not the amount you invest it’s what that amount means to the individual that makes people squirm.
We also have to consider the effects of covid disrupting many business’s worldwide. There are bound to be delays considering the extraordinary worldwide trading conditions caused by covid.
I thought it was a good solid RNS, just need to be patient.
I’ve been watching it rise along with a few others but have everything tied up here until the news lands. I can’t wait to move into a few others I have my eye on but need this deal to complete first. Always the bargain time of year to buy just before Xmas.
I totally hear what you are saying with that post. I aim to retire in 4 years time if this comes off and then I will do some volunteering/ charity work. I’m not interested in the material things, I have a nice house and superb family. If I can build my portfolio enough with this share I may even be able to sort my kids out a property or a good chunk towards one. For me it’s about helping others, no greater satisfaction. There was a programme on lottery winners that was an eye opener but made sense. Those that won and were happiest had given loads away to friends and family. As one woman said we came into all this wealth overnight that obviously changed what we could and couldn’t do as suddenly we had a lot more choice. No o e around us would understand as they weren’t in the same situation. This particular woman and her partner gave all their close friends a huge gift of money each. This meant everyone around them was going through the same emotions etc. They were extremely happy and all their friends remain good friends. No jealousy envy etc as they took that away. On the flip side quite a few who won were very unhappy. Many had been taken for a ride by so called friends, this then led to trust issues and mental health issues etc.
Wealth is a double edged sword, it doesn’t make you happy it just gives you more choice than those without.
Yesterday my wife was diagnosed with a very rare blood disorder, she will now have to be on steroids for most of her life which long term will affect other organs. Came out of the blue to a healthy clean living individual. We would t have got this diagnosis if we hadn’t paid to go and see a private consultant who really pulled out all the stops. Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to do stuff like this.
Worth thinking about when deciding what new watch or car you are going to buy if your investments do well.
So many threads have turned into slanging matches worthy of a playground, so I’m not surprised. Even the long term holders have been getting sucked into it. I personally don’t get it, why even bother responding to the derampers ?
Considering the stage the deal is at now, it isn’t going to be affected by some childish posts on a bulletin board is it ?
Let’s hope this is the Friday we all remember as when the news landed.
"MrMarkyMark - You are quite correct, I have been a fan of SP for some years, but have on occasion fallen out with TW. He is a sensitive soul at heart who does not take kindly to criticism. At least these days he has toned down the abuse and that has made the site much better respected.
However, whilst his buy tips might be open to some question (as I have learned to my cost), his warnings on scams and frauds are usually spot-on. Overall I think he provides a valuable service, and let's face it - nobody is perfect."
So the guy who isn't invested here and a fan of TW thinks this share is dodgy. Hmm if I had listened to TW earlier in the year I wouldn't have done extremely well from NCYT or EUA which still have loads more to come !
I dont mind individuals taking the time to make a big deal of a reply I made so I thought I would return the favour in the same style.
No ramping here just done plenty of research and actually got a fair bit invested here unlike my new G.
