Felt like I was attending a College Open Evening. The presentation, far from slick, was delivered with little sign of the enthusiasm and excitement one might expect from what was effectively a product launch based upon their own achievements. A PowerPoint presentation might have been more effective than waiting for the cursor reaction!
I was pleased that the presentation was not conducted in the dreadful politely pseudo academic geek that has formed some form of Americano-Creole and taken over the likes of Instagram.
Author shows promise but as presented, looks little different from a 1990s Desktop Publishing System linked to a powerful search engine. Sure, there are some very advanced clever bits that did not really come across in the demonstration and would need personal access to the software to explore. Why they highlighted ability to generate an ISBN number is beyond me, easily done and the final stage of publishing.
I am still unsure of the target market and think they want to attract as they appear to aspire to being all things to all men. The question relating to marketing was glossed over to the extent I had the impression they had little understanding what it was or how to handle this aspect. Previously it has been intimated there was a knowledge of an inexpensive highly targeted approach. Hope it is more than Instagram posts!
The majority of Joe Public knows AI is coming fast even though it has been with us for 50 years or more in one shape or form. Nevertheless, there is a fear of the unknown which creates resistance to change. I do not think either mainstream fiction or nonfiction will be the early market for this product.
As for Media and Games, it is noticeably clear that both are still in initial stages of development, yet they are looking to charge users to act as beta testers! Both show promise but I could have generated better images in the 1980/90s from the rudimentary PCs then available. Think they must have sourced these from a freebie and aimed the images at 3-year-olds.
RJ’s philosophy of finding small units with expandable products capable of generating wealth is sound. BUT Authors tend to be creative people and Technicians are solution orientated. Few have business or marketing acumen; this may come later. Assuming the service or product meets muster, successful business also needs a blend of the exuberance of youth and wisdom which comes from experience.
The three presenters are obviously highly talented but, sorry, come across as Academics - Should this not be where Jack Allardyce comes into the picture? Where is he? In Madagascar with Harena Earths, digging for rare earths maybe or in the US looking to take advantage of new US Governmental sources of finance to further Harena Earth’s Californian interests?
Come on man – Step up to the plate – Capai needs you! And make sure you are fully involved when CapMed comes online, hopefully shortly. This is what I am personally more interested in and where, I beli
