I asked the question to Barclays live chat as I will be honest its not a clear cut RNS and that is what they replied.

I spoke to Barclays live chat about the RNS, and they stated that

"Our technical team have noted that it does seem Goldman Sach International have bought further shares and hit a trigger point were a notification had to be issued, hence the RNS."

They did go on to state "No Official takeover or scheme of arrangement have been made by the company. Any definitive information/announcement will be noted on the company's website." - Not sure why they added the last bit?

Hopefully it is here to stay! Long overdue!

So we now have 3.37% to close if the SP continues to rise?

I can see that the open shorts on Cineworld increased on 26/08 from 2.26% to 3.37%. Am I right in thinking the SP was around 2p all day and finished on 2.3p for the weekend, meaning that the shorters sold at around 2p? Meaning that the 1% that shorted this on Friday are now out of pocket as it stands with the SP being 2.29p?

~I really hope that this does well, and these shorts get burnt! I am guessing it is a few of these de rampers!

So, what you are stating is they are increasing their hold in the company so that they get more of a vote as a creditor? It doesn't make sense. Wouldn't the percentage owned in the company be irrelevant as a creditor? Wouldn't it just come down to how much they have lent Cineworld?

Potential buyer to the table? As they have brought the buyer to the table are unable to vote? As stated on their website "We advise companies on buying and selling businesses, raising capital and managing risks, which enables them to grow."

This is all speculation and not fact! But it looks promising in my opinion!

@Penta that what I was thinking by removing the voting rights means it irradiates the conflict of interest as they cannot vote on changes! But yet still benefit from any gains
