They mentioned yesterday about the house broker talking to ii's and high net worth investors. If someone starts buying this up in any kind of volume it will move at pace. The YTD perf is a concern but i can't see it dropping much below these levels.
1.1?? Nice deal. 2.5m market cap. Wind the business up and pocket the extra 2m in the bank. Good luck but v unlikely.
Ytd yoy down c.10% but up c.6% vs 2020. Slower start to the year than we'd hoped and perhaps explains why they didn't try to raise awareness of the investor presentation. For now still sticking to the fy guidance. Sp already basically pricing the business at zero (after caah) so cant see any gigantic sell off but will be a decline today.
They've been pretty bang on with forecasts over the last 12 months. They're forecasting a 1.5m ebitda loss this year so 3m cash in reserves going into 2023 which will hopefully be the first year where the cash balance actually increases. Feels to me like they've comfortably got enough cash to get to profitability unless something unexpected happens. Tomorrow's results are obviously already known so really just interested in the YTD performance and any early insight about DFS. Growth in Q1 will be difficult given how strong performance was in the period last year. Any positive growth at all (even skinny single digit) probably puts them on track to deliver the £29m revenue/-£1.5 ebitda guidance.
The business bucked the trend in 2021 by still delivering strong growth vs tough 2020 comparisons. No reason to suggest they won't keep doing that through to profitability. Partnerships will be important i think and in particular I'm looking forward to seeing where the sleep away range will end up. As CC said in the last presentation this is packed small and can be stocked in volume so the list is endless for this. Its been so popular on the eve site and they've only just managed to get it back in stock. Still expecting this back into the 3-4p range on results but only if YTD is still showing strong (ideally double didgit) growth.
How much lower could it possibly go? No debt and £4-5m in the bank it's already priced at basically zero. I'd be surprised to see it priced less than the cash in the bank but I guess it wouldn't be the first time. I personally hope we don't see the big pre results spike tomorrow. Let's release some decent numbers / show progress and build back gradually.
The support from DFS so far has been great. The front page direct link to eve products / the high eve ranking in the main mattress pages. Looking forward to hearing how perf has been so far this year. I think Q1 last year was v strong so comparisons will be tough. Any positive growth would be encouraging. I think it's unlikely to be double digit growth again but lets see.
Please stop making the same observation over and over again. They're trying to scale the business, increase awareness and steal share. It's a v competitive space and therefore concessions will be needed. It's unfortunate but it's the reality. When they do a partnership (such as DFS) the economics are different in that some of the margin goes to DFS. There simply won't be headroom to offer big concessions on top of the DFS share. Either trust that the management team know what they're doing or sell up.
DG - Yeah they've always been planned in for the 24th. Has been on the Eve investor relations site for a while now. Seems a little strange they haven't put out an RNS to confirm that they're doing an investor presentation on the same day. They did that last year with 1x week to go. Perhaps that RNS will come tomorrow or early next week. Or perhaps there isn't an investor presentation??
This will start to wake up from tomorrow I'd guess. RNS tomorrow to confirm the investor presentation the following Thurs, 24th Mar RNS to cover the full yr results / a trading update covering the start of the year, RNS the following week to confirm that directors have purchased. Would like to think we'll be back in the 3-4p range come the end of the month but confirmation on a strong start to the year will be needed to hold onto the gains.
DGU - The amount of test of learn on pricing/offers at Eve will be huge. Mike Lloyd is a ex Oliver Wyman partner and he'll be all over it. Assume that what they're doing is close to optimum. They know what they're doing !!!
Thanks Firex - haven't seen that but good news and sounds like they're taking the category more seriously. DFS certainly seem to be pushing the Eve products hard in terms of website positioning which is also good. I wonder if this is just an initial launch period where they get upweighted support. One to keep a track on. I'm very surprised to see the SP back down at what is essentially the value of the cash in the bank. Feels a no brainer at these levels / almost certainly we're going to see some director purchases after the 24th.
D-G > don't they normally update with 1x week to go ? Think that was the case last year with an RNS confirming the date of the investor presentation on the Mar 11th for the 18th. This year the final results are the 24th so expect an RNS on the 17th.
Good post Wyn. Sorry DGU but I agree with all of that.
Ridiculous post. CC will be doing everything she possibly can to get the business into profitability and is now close. Her pay (when compared to CEO's of other listed companies) is low.
Eve prices will need to go up this year I suspect. Given the 'premium' nature of the product hopefully this doesn't depress sales too much. Very surprised by the SP action since the announcement - think this is certainly now undervalued. Notice the difference in language between TP and CC in the latest investor presentation. CC talks about UK breakeven in 2022 but TP talks about profitability which I suspect is their internal goal. Hopefully we hear in 3 weeks about a profitable start to 2022 and a growing cash balance.

DFS have a history of partnering and then acquiring younger brands - dwell / sofology as examples. This is a good opportunity for Eve. The current DFS mattress/bedding range is v limited and so Eve should get good traction from the get go.
haven't been looking at eve for a while but notice they're now on the first page of google (organically) for pretty much all of the main keywords - mattress, buy mattress, double mattress, king mattress etc etc. This wasn't the case when I was looking at them before.
Not invested here but what a great deal for Eve. Pleased for all long term holders like Wyn/D-Ge who have been waiting patiently. Potentially transformational.
