RE: MMs desperate for shares had to jump bid up big17 Mar 2021 09:34
I can access RSP pricing which the only difference to you doing a dummy sell is I see more depth as in how many MMs are bidding on your quote. Obviously the best price is the one you will go for and they one you will be given. But good to see depth behind that price too. Also you might want say 200k shares and get a pants price but you asked for 100k and then 100k you might get them both at a better price than the 200k at once, because MMs were only offering 100k max on the quote for a good price. Any lumps higher will be further away.
That is why you see delayed trades often well outside the spread at the time. You can't have 500k shares inside spread (normally) unless MMs are have/want plenty of stock. So if you want it all at once you pay a penalty.
I can tell you now there are 5 MMs looking to buy shares above 4.9p and none quoting less than 5p to sell them to you.
