RE: Portuguese Lithium assets for sale!13 Feb 2018 13:20
Think Archer has stated he is up to his eyeballs currently and plenty to be getting on with, before taking on anymore green projects. Need to be cash generating to grow the business going forward to protect shareholders now.
End of next year before I would see any new ventures being looked at. If anything Oman expansion to really get a good copper foothold would be a primary target, given copper futures (3 times as much copper in an EV than combustion engine!). We have plenty of Lithium targets to drill and even a secondary market in the Finnish Lithium areas (access to the Northvolt factory with that in future years?) I wouldn't want them to overexpose in Lithium either, plenty of other very important metals to be a part of. Kenmare is a one resource company and it suffered badly.
Crusaders and potentially other lithium hopefuls could be looking at the next 5 years and potential to get at the table with quality battery Lithium products and folding their cards early knowing they can't compete in price/cost and quality of more near term players.
SAV is in a unique postion both in place and time to steal a march on other players, its allll about size now. 20Mt at Barroso would be a excellent start, 10Mt in Australia would be lost in the big players but 10Mt on European doorstep would be good enough. Strip mining makes this viable of course, good profit to bring on other areas, better than finding $500m to start a big project, bring on bits at a time, not in too deep.
