Share buy backs are a typical ploy in a mature bear market to artificially bolster the share price at a time when there is no other way of justifying a high price. It is very much to the benefit of the Directors!

I hold Dignity, a very large Funeral Director firm in the UK. Last week, on the 22nd April, we managed to get rid of our Exec Chairman and his board of independent colleagues! I now think the future is bright for this company as a result.

I should imagine that this company will soon catch the attention of the institutions in search of a solid, safe, cash cow. The future looks rosy. This is precisely the time to buy!!

That is a scary proposition......I assume you believe this could be done without shareholder approval.

Well maybe as a safety measure, one could invest in Pheonix Asset Management's Investment Trusts, as they would benefit considerably from such action. Based on their past performance, we could do a lot worse!

Lets see what the analysts and weekend press have to say about the matter. It could have a really good effect on the price of this stock. If a bid was forthcoming, I'd accept it like a shot....especially if it was in the region of £8. I invest in shares to make money!

I think that may be ultimately a good thing. Once all the skeletons are out of the closet and the shareholders know where they stand, there should be less uncertainty and faith restored. Lets face it, Pheonix have a lot riding on this as a 30% stakeholder and I believe that £6.75 was their average purchase price. There are many potential things they can do to to get profit out of their investment and serve the long suffering Pheonix shareholders. Fundamentally, Dignity is a solid business but it has just ambled along in tired old ways. If anyone can turn this business around Pheonix can! I am interested to learn what the weekend press make of the company under new management. I am sure they will agree with me that it offers a bright new future and this will drive the price of the shares higher short term and much higher, medium to long term. With efficient and imaginative management value can be unlocked for sure!!!

This is an excellent result, not just for the future of the company but for shareholder power! Its good to know that our views and opinions sometimes can weld some influence. This new chapter heralds a bright new future for the company and I am sure that Gary Channon will easily find willing and highly competent people to occupy the places of the ousted former directors! Hold on to the shares you have and fill your boots!!

Thanks for your considered views. I take a lot of what brokers say with a pinch of salt. Who knows Deutsche may want to deliberately depress BP. for some dark reason of its own. I've lost money listening to companies like Finn Cap who downgraded one of the shares I owned only to see them rise 50% a few weeks later!
I was interested in your views on Chevron and have mainly bought into BP. because Warren Buffett has vastly increased his holding in Chevron, indicating to me that he is confident of the oil sector rising in the future.

Maybe the market makers are trying to put us off the scent!

Why are we waiting?........tick tock....tick tock! These shares could go to £8 if he is elected. I think its worth a punt. If he isn't then there may be a temporary set back. Hey Ho.........its still a sound company with potential, so prices will recover. We should have news announced very soon......maybe mid day.

This one has been a bit disappointing today, despite the fact that there have been more buys than sells. Maybe the MMs playing games.....hopefully the share price will make further progress before this month ends.

This seems to be one of the very few blue shares in a sea of red today. It is usually a good sign. Could a takeover be in store? If so.......50p takeout.

Something a bit fishy. The higher the oil price the lower the price of the shares. All this bullish talk on here and counting of chicken's is beginning to feel like a pump and dump tactic! I hope I'm wrong!

Yes! There is certainly an advantage to the Directors! They are sitting on large holdings of shares and buying back the shares they will be able to cream off millions from the rising prices! In theory this is good for investors too.....but for those of us who depend on a steady income in retirement, maybe increased dividends is preferable.

This share is consolidating. It will not keep falling back below £2.97. It will continue on a path of higher highs and higher lows until it reaches a not unreasonable £4.00 by year end or early 2022. Lets wait and see what happens when the US markets open this afternoon. Obviously there will be fall backs on the way....but it will get there.
