Looks positive for a slight rise before the results and the anticipated Div.......the a pull back.....possibly a prolonged one.......especially if the full divi is not paid!

As a fairly large holder of CNA shares it is encouraging to hear positive hopes for the future, especially as I am nursing losses at a 1.93 entry point! But I have to say that I take a lot of the reasons to buy with a large pinch of salt. The shares could easily drop to �1.15 and even lower....and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the real value or prospects of the company. If there is one thing I have learned from this recent investment of mine is to be EXTREMELY wary takeover rumours! They are best ignored for at least 12 months or more after they emerge! I am beginning to think that they whole thing is engineered to get people to pile into the share before a major sell off!! And the decline in the value can last for 2 or 3 years before the shares recover. Once the shares start to decline nothing will reverse the trend until the manipulators decide to re-inflate the SP They sometimes say that profit warnings come in threes......we shall have to wait and see. For me right now......the only thing that matters is that they remain solvent and profitable and that they do not get nationalized! If my worst fears are not realized then long / medium term at these prices, they seem fair value. Sorry to dampen the expectations of the more optimistic among you.....but my opinion is based on similar experiences like this over 40 years of investing.

Could it go to �2 or more? Yes......it certainly could! If it is any consolation, I have held shares that have crashed to ridiculous levels, so much so that they were just not worth selling! I shoved them in a draw for 7 to 10 years....and to my utter amazement discovered that they had gone well beyond the price I originally paid. What is in the favour of Rockhopper right now, is that they have proven large quantities of oil. The value of the shares are well below their true potential worth. They are also not alone, but have the support and backing of a larger Oil company Premier [ which incidentally, I remember languishing at 12.5p for many years before zooming to astronomical levels of value! ] It seems to me the only thing that could make you lose money on this share is if it went bust. I don't think that is going to happen. And will oil no longer be required? I don't think so......it is all political......oil price moves in cycles and the wheel is turning. All these factors work in our favour. At this price I cannot see you can lose....but you MUST BE PATIENT! Another bit of advice is once the upswing get to 50p or �1.....don't be hasty in taking a profit.......keep some and sit on them....for sure they will come GOOD!!!

Why do shares go down on a day that three times more shares are bought than sold?

We seem to be the only ones on this site now. There has not been much news lately on HNT.......but I suspect more positive news to come and hopefully and increased dividend! Have you heard anything about how Grayling is doing? Just to say that I have taken a nice profit on these shares and retain 50% for further profit. I have just bought 100,000 RKH shares......as I think they are about to boom in the next 1 to 2 years. I also bought 50,000 CNA shares....for the dividend....and hopefully a turn around in the companies profits. Do you have any news or share tips for 2018?

I remember 6 or so years back when these shares were �5.00 Since then the oil price has crashed and a good few years have passed.....but there are signs of an oil recovery. It all goes in cycles....the wheel is beginning to turn in our favour! The company knows this. We are also entering the mature phase of the bull market.......during this time, small cap shares begin to flourish as investors "pan for gold" and are willing to take a punt on more overlooked value shares. At this price...and depending on the oil price...I should say that RHK are a dead cert for the next 2 /3 years......it could be a 2/ 3/ 4. 5 banger!

I thoroughly approve of all the innovations regarding alternative methods to fossil fuels. But just how long will it take before they replace the old source of energy? Most of our homes are gas central heated and i do not see this being replaced any time soon. Another thought, is that gas and oil prices move in cycles....at the moment prices are comparatively low....but will they remain so? I remember 20 years back listening to a financial programme on Radio 4 predicting that oil was going to fall to 50p a barrel [or some such ridiculous sum] that was the turning point......pessimisim was at it's highest.......and the prices began to rise! I am certain the tide will turn!!!

Can someone explain the difference between all these please, as I am getting confused! Why does there appear ro be so large a spread? Who determines all these prices?

it is obvious that Centrica shares are way undervalued......and there will be a share reversal in value in time!!!

Just goes to show how utterly unreliable share investing is! Centrica has a regular solid income....and enormous potential for future profit........but all that seems to count for nothing! The falling price is all share manipulation that bears no relation to the true value of the company. No doubt value WILL return with patience!

Yes this is good news,,,,,,,no reason to imagine that Huntsworth Health will not continue its strong growth, which as long as the other company components gain a little or at least do not lose money we should have another year of positive growth and even an increased dividend!!! The share price seems to be holding its own.......no further opportunities to get these shares cheap. I did think that maybe Banks were the finance related stocks referred to. Maybe it is time to buy some Lloyds shares......as long as the property market holds up,

On Saturday 11th November there was a good article in the FT ON Ken Fisher's opinion of market direction. He felt that the bull market could have another three years to run and he advised against energy and retail stocks and opined that at this point in the economic cycle tech, healthcare and growth orientated parts of finance would prosper. Since then major energy shares have fallen....so he got that bit right. Regarding Huntsworth......I guess any improvement in healthcare shares will affect the company for good going forward. But what is he referring to by "growth orientated parts of finance?"

And many thanks for the latest news Gotrader! Had I not sold one share earlier this year, I would now be sitting on a gigantic profit. Still I'm pleased with what I have and continue to accrue. My biggest problem now is that I have a load of cash in my Isa.......and wonder where I should invest that. I still have a large holding in HNT which it seems to wise to hang on to.........but surely a correction is coming? Then maybe a good international investment trust will be appropriate.

Yes, I agree with you.........no great hurry to sell. I was particularly encouraged by your comments regarding the Health business and the potential increased profits you feel they can generate. Huntsworth health is the obvious star of the show.......as we have both been saying for some time. But I have been on a terrifying roller coaster ride with this share.....with some shares bought near the top and I hung on and bought more over five years......all the way down to 33p........but I kept the faith and did not sell one share when everyone else was losing their heads. As we go into 2018 I fear political changes in the US........and with all the European elections out of the way......and Brexit negotiations in the back ground I fear a general dip in markets, irrespective of HNT'S particular merits. One thing I have learnt as an investor is NEVER to take your eye off the ball of the general political background. Share prices don't depend on their own performance alone........they can still fall even if they are making money. But one thing about this share.....at least it kept paying dividends........and that helped a lot!

I retained 150,000 at 40p and bought back 200,000 at 59p.....so I am well chuffed! Maybe I ought to hang on for 70p and the increased dividend. I knew HNT would come good in the end.........but wonder how much longer the US economy and the dollar will hold up. On balance, I think I feel safer with most of the companies profits coming from the US now. All indicators are that shares prices will continue to grow in August, No news, comments or advice from Diehard.........very strange how he has gone all quiet........I hope he hasn't had a stroke! What should I do with my £8000 profit......my finger is twitching over the sell button.......only YOU can prevent me from crystalizing my profit! Maybe you are too frightened to give an opinion.

I am so grateful that Diehard brought me to my senses! Thanks to Diehard, I bought back 200,000 shares 59p and am now sitting on a paper profit of £8000. What should I do next Diehard........sell the shares and go on a cruise.......or hold on a bit longer? Or maybe invest more in OXB? I wonder if you have made any money lately. You never seem to expose yourself to the possibility of ever making a mistake. I guess it is because you are not as naïve as me!
