Having been slated for having one of the highest death rates per million of population anywhere in the world, regardless of whether the calls come from Ursula or Tedros or whoever, isn't it right that we should continue vaccinating apace and not heeding calls to slow down so that others can catch up? It wasn't a 'vaccine war' - in fact we were being 'reckless', compared to the EU, in approving vaccines too quickly - until it became politically embarrassing.

Reading between the lines, probably means pending assessment of whether the Scots are likely to remain in the U.K. if not, they can’t be relied on for sovereign testing capacity.

Given that they are is simultaneously most at risk from Covid and least likely to accept a vaccination, it is obvious that testing will be required in cities where there is a high BAME population for the foreseeable future.

That is why the second, equally important pillar of Boris’s (as yet unannounced) plan to release the U.K. is nationwide testing with secure borders in place. The more you read about the vaccine consortium, the more likely it seems that there is a testing consortium as well. The only question is whether its existence will be revealed by our rigorous, constantly probing media ahead of Boris’s plan to announce it when Parliament returns from recess. (Feb 24th)
