However, their behaviour over AstraZeneca was appalling. Don't forget that at one stage they were threatening to take over EU based factories and requisition the IP for the vaccine. As testing is also key to ending the pandemic, they could try and do the same with affimers!

I seem to remember that the FDA has led the way here too by requiring that samples used for validation of testing devices should be fresh rather than frozen. (Somebody posted a link to their process a while back.)
When the Huffington Post wrote about Avacta and criticised the Porton Down process, PD doubled down and issued a statement indicating that use of frozen samples made no material difference.

I'm surprised that more hasn't been made of the fact that Xiamen Biotime Biotechnology Co. Ltd was already churning out millions of LFTs in Jan 2020 when it was only declared a pandemic by the WHO in March 2020. Does this perhaps link in with the Wuhan lab leak theory?

Isn't Boris supposed to be making the big decision about the 21st tomorrow at Covid Question Time? Surely one (or all) of the media circus will be asking about the 'not fit for use' tests that everyone is using.

Given the the Department of Health claimed to be the manufacturer for MHRA approval purposes, we should all return our Innova tests to Matt Han****. With a not saying “Not fit for purpose, choose Avacta instead.”

Annoying that the third blue box column alongside this article mentions Excalibur Health rather than Avacta.

This advert by Excalibur appears alongside the Daily Mail expose on the Gov repackaging Innova tests. Excalibur was also the brans mentioned in the Conservative Woman investigation. (Someone’s got their PR bang on!)

Chile has shut down Santiago. Population 50% fully vaccinated but hospitals at 98% capacity. Yet we still allow red list arrivals at Heathrow. Madness.

“Millions of these tests have been delivered to the U.K.”…. I wouldn’t mind but they haven’t been ‘delivered’ at all. We’ve had to charter planes to go and get them from CHINA ourselves, at further great expense!

The problem for us LFT supporters is that the public is already cynical about the whole test & trace programme which - so far - has not availed itself of our world-beating test. The fact that Dido Harding is being mooted at a potential new leader of the NHS means that journalists will be focusing even more on her T&T record.

“In late September 2020, the Scientific Advisory Group on Emergencies found that Test and Trace was having only a ‘marginal impact’ on stopping Covid-19 transmission. In December 2020, the National Audit Office also found that ‘issues with implementation and potentially the initial choice of delivery model mean that it is not yet achieving all its objectives.’

And in March 2021, the Commons Public Accounts Committee concluded that while Test and Trace clearly had to be set up and staffed at incredible speed, there is still no clear evidence of the programme’s overall effectiveness; and it’s not clear whether its contribution to reducing infection levels can justify its ‘unimaginable’ costs.”

The latest Innova scandal will be viewed as just another indication that T&T is a useless vanity project rather than the pandemic-halting tool that it has proved to be in SE Asia.

Meanwhile, where is Boris’s world-beating U.K. diagnostics industry? If it consists only of genetic sequencing to find ever more variants to perpetuate the lockdown, people will end up wanting it dismantled! So come on Boris, tell us about the good stuff!
