We really need to get Al Smith out there communication the difference between ‘healthy and non-infectious’ and ‘asymptomatic but infectious’. My respect for Dominic Cummings increases by the day. He got this. Must have been like banging his head against a brick wall. His evidence stated that Matt Han**** didn’t get it. (Hence we continue with Innova.)

It amazes me that otherwise intelligent people can’t understand the need for asymptomatic testing. It seems that there is a significant cohort of the Tory party that thinks this way. In fact, they seem to be in favour of dropping testing altogether. There was lots of crowing about how the Events Testing Pilot only found 17 people who were positive amongst many thousands. If Innova was used, how many people were wrongly cleared for admission to those mass events?

Is now urging all EU countries to put Brits into quarantine.
Suggests two things:
1) Germany has no faith in our ability to contain India variant through testing. (Hardly surprising, given that Heidelberg University found our cornerstone LFT - Innova - to be of high concern
2) Germany and rest of Europe doesn’t have an accurate LFT capable of identifying Indian variant infections
If (when) Avacta can confirm that AffiDX can do this = easy sell.

I still think it significant that AS said that we were “engaged with” the Porton Down procurement process, rather than “engaged in” it. I take that to mean that they are involved with making it fit for purpose.
