It is a surprise that, so far, to quote Bastard et al:
"Conclusion. In ICU patients, auto-Abs against type I IFNs were found in at least 10% of patients with critical COVID-19 pneumonia. They were not associated with day 28 mortality."
And this is supported by the new Shanghai study.
So, the presence of auto-Abs is only useful for detecting potentially suitable patients for the P2 clinical trials.
It seems that our chances of success rely on identifying the most suitable patients from the characteristics identified from the deep dives of the data of the previous clinical trials.
