Wellwell,
"AK if BP were ever to drill Clair into the basement (which may have been mooted here before) and find something..." (etc.)
They already have. Don't take my word for it (I'm just another anonymous BB poster, remember?), go check some facts.
By the way, and on which subject, while wandering about town this evening, getting my supper, chatting with a few friends, and so on, I couldn't help thinking that my earlier post might have been a bit misleading. The way I'd mentioned Clair Ridge, Rona Ridge and the Westray Fault in the same phrase. Because that might lead people unfamiliar with the geological side of things astray, or at least confused.
However, the subsequent sedimentation north and south of Westray is vastly dissimilar. BP (with Clair) is north, Hurricane (with GLA and GWA) is south. But structurally (preceding both faulting and far more recent sedimentation) the 'uplift' is waaaay different regarding what we're calling the 'fractured basement' which Dr T acquired.
Which amounted to a stroke of genius, in my own very humble opinion.
While back to such tech discussions, the BB becoming more serious again, the above thoughts (or line of thinking) lead on to another, which might provoke some interesting discussion.
Almost two years ago now, HUR applied for and received the lease for the 'blocks' leading up to what we know as Halifax. This licencing being done 'out of round' by the OGA, and in very short order, and personally (despite research) can't see a precedent of a similar nature. So how come that happened, and why?
I reckon I know the 'Hurricane Story' by now. But I'm equally aware that there's a whole bunch more that I don't know, and those that do aren't telling!
