Ah, c'mon. Someone start a nice new Takeover Rumour about Hurricane! Might get the SP up to 45p again. I heard that PMO and Rockhopper were seen having drinks together and wondering whether to get Tullow in on the act and make an outright bid for all of the Rona Ridge at a quid a HUR share, and taking over Spirit's obligations for 10% of the cut...

Mind you, that was only scuttlebutt overheard by a journalist friend in the VIP lounge at Hockenheim, so is probably quite fictitious.

In the corporate presentation (or mabe the cmd? I forget), the company said average offload 'package size" would be 350,000 bbl. It didn't specify over a specific timeframe, but I'm guessing offloads will be weather-dependent, especially in winter, whe small 'packages' may be offloaded before periods of heavy seas, to allox wide margins.

Offload volumes are interesting right now to deduce approximate production rates during ramp-up, but I'd bet that in 18 months time, nobody will still be 'tankerwatching'!

Or conceivably Tuesday first thing. HUR recently held a Capital Markets Day, and released an RNS just an hour before the presentation was given.

Of course it's possible that S&S may not have any 'price sensitive' updates to divulge that have not already been covered, in which case an RNS would be superfluous.

Although bits of your post might be correct, that phrase essentially isn't. Because Lanc 6 was drilled in 2014, and to 1 km horizontal length rather than the (earlier) proposed 2km. Kerogen only entered the equation in 2016, prior to the '7 wells'. Though already the earlier plan for a single-well EPS had been changed, sometime in 2015. I suspect that this was how Hurricane got Kerogen onboard in some ways, with a new EPS plan but which required investment to achieve.

Be that as maybe, my post was postulating an answer to FS22's question as to why HUR isn't drilling 4km horizontals. And the more I've thought about it (driving 170 miles in the past few hours and with not much other than the road and the traffic to occupy my mind), the more I think it holds water. Because not only are the wells (or at least the horizontal sections) being drilled in hard abrasive rock, but also crossing fractures which may be over a metre in breadth, I suspect that (directionally speaking) the borehole may comprise localised 'high dogleg angles' which could also put considerable stresses on the drillstring. And that might also go to explain why the wells are 'barefoot completions' (ie open-hole) without the incorporation of slotted liners.

First of all, way back when, the EPS was planned as a single 2km well. This was then modified to two 1km horizontals.

I have no inside knowledge of what prompted this change, and documentation about it is scarce. But gut-feeling makes me think it may have been for mechanical drilling concerns, and potential drillstring limitations. Although Hurricane is not using any unusual or 'new' downhole technology, and in directonal terms, the techniques employed are 'bog standard", it mustn't be forgotten that they're drilling horizontal through hard igneous rock. And that, of course, IS unusual. I suspect they want to play safe in respect to string wear and tear, possibly based on other FB Operators' expériences, and their own with the earlier directional wells.

This is just speculation on my part. So could be wrong. And if anyone here has a different explanation, based on better knowledge, I'd be interested to read it. But I think mine is plausible.

So? Did you expect one? I suggest you look at page 74 of the CMD presentation (on the HUR website) to see what will and will not be RNS'd. Production data will be available 'three months in arrears'.

Hurricane is now an oil-producing company, and lacking a pipeline, the oil has to be transported to shore by tanker. Which from now on may be considered a 'routine operation'. Just part of normal business, so not 'price-sensitive', and therefore not subject to regulatory reporting.

Yes, I quite agree with you on that.

The thing is, Daltry mentioned the Centrica stuff (and got knocked down for it) the other day, and although Centrica's problems are indeed 'old news', I do feel it's something worth following. If for no other reason that (in my big-headedness) I have no reson to believe that 'the market' is any smarter than I am, but in general it has a huge amount more financial clout!

Hence my thinking it's a story worth following. ESPECIALLY to see who may buy into Spirit! Follow what I mean?

Yes. Even though we don't know any of the details. I'm not worried that sometime Spirit is going to back away from its agreements with Hurricane, to 'our' loss.

I don't think I even agree with Daltry's 'dark cloud' idea. But I suspect some people within the 'market' may do, putting two and two together and getting five, and hence such stuff may be being reflected in the HUR SP.

All worth keeping an eye on, methinks. And also (bites nails) underlining how critical the current Lincoln well's success will be to everything following.

Still, 'risk' makes life exciting. Think I'll drive down to Royan to play poker tomorrow. It's only 85 miles, most of it motorway. I'd planned to do that yesterday evening, but it was too dam hot to make me want to go to the seaside...

You addressed that to 'daltry', and I don't see that expoused such a theory anywhere in his reply to my post.

I found his reply interesting, the thing about a potential a potential 'buyer' being in some way 'hostile' to the company's involvement with Hurricane, and the GWA. But at the same time, I can't help feeling that somone who 'buy's' Spirit to help Centrica out of a bind will be going to buy not just the hens being taken to market, but also the basket of eggs as well.

As Spirit is a significant farminee, upon (financed by them) a lot of Hurricane's future credibility rests, in the form of the ongoing Lincoln well (in my opinion), I reckon it's a story worth following.

There's something strange going on. I put in a 'buy' order for a mere 150,000 shares early this afternoon 'on spot' and it remained unfilled at close of play.

And I'm damned if I'm going to renew my order for first thing tomorrow, 'cos for sure the price after auction will be 3% higher if there are open buys on the books!

This leads me to suspect that the trades we're seeing at present are mainly between 'bots' left on autopilot by their programmers (who've gone on holiday) and that there aren't too many shares actually available for people who intend to hang onto them for more than just a couple of hours...

Does anyone here think that Centrica's current problems ( Centrica being co-owners of Spirit) might have some bearing on Hurricane's ongoing abysmal SP?

I see no logical reason why the two should be connected, but logic doesn't often apply regarding AIM-listed shares!

I really ought to ignore that comment, LW, because it could be seriously misconstrued.

Though I'd really like to know what happened to a half-Senegalese half-Gabonese MWD engineer I worked with for a while, and rather 'took under my wing' when she was a trainee on my wellsite. Went on to rise rapidly through Schlumberger's ranks, and was absolutely the best LWD person I ever worked with. And a friend. I learned a heck of a lot about Rotary Steerable from her, when the technique was still rather hit-and-miss. She was in cahoots with me when the Schlumberger satellite dish had an unfortunate 'accident' due to the front-end loader. That way we weren't getting straw-bossed by people in Cabinda.

Can't forget the time I rolled up in Port-Gentil a few years later, had a meeting with Schlum, found her there (as stand-in Manager), and we had a drink later. She rolled up in jeans and a spangly tee-shirt saying 'Rock Chick'. Pretty as heck, Masters degree in Mathematics. We got on well!

But equally, I do also recall a formidable lady who worked in Shell's engineering dept (also Gabon) who had amazingly worked once as a cement operator. 'Formidable' wasn't the word, and although she was rather sweet, had a terrible temper, so everyone made themselves scarce when she was onsite.

I think that according to that site, anyone who posts about Hurricane (or any other share, come to that) is by definition a "ramper'.

Who cares, anyway? Anyone who spends their time compiling such stuff is (in my book) some sort of anal-retentive sorry type, possibly a borderline social misfit, and unlikely to attract the attention of the sort of girls I go out with.

Yes, but it's also an abbreviation of 'Health & Efficiency' (if that publication exists any more).

Referring to Hurricane as HUR leads to no ambiguity, because it's doubtful that anyone will think it's the family name of a chariot-racer that's being referred to.

As for 'Dr Rocks', that's just plain childish.

If FS22 refrained from such inanities, people might take him more seriously. And he does sometimes have some interesting and knowledgable stuff to say.
