Pisces21,
"Must’ve been mooring line at 0930hrs, just seen the offload hose being passed across at 1145hrs"
Please don't risk your own job posting such stuff here! Nevertheless, it's much appreciated.
I think I can understand what you witnessed, from wherever it is you are.
The shuttle-tanker approches, and a line is (pretty-much-literally) 'shot' between the two boats. not a 'mooring-line', because the tanker remains on DP. It doesn't 'moor itself' to anything.
But then, using the 'light-line' shot, used to haul over a bigger line, that 'big line' is then used to haul in the loading-hose, which is connected, so that offload can commence.
I think that's what you saw, and a couple of hours to safely do such a manoever sounds efficient and good. It's a lot of heavy equipment involved, involving all sorts of personal safety issues, and of course environmental, because there mustn't be a 'leak' anywhere.
A couple of hours for such things strikes me as inconsequential, and not worth even 'timing'.
And anyway, I have hopes that our friend with contacts with the shipping authorities will keep us postage as to the actual tonnage involved.
Personally, I'm rather just waiting to see about Warwick West. And unlike in the past, not doing much 'shipwatching' regarding that, because lots more diligent people have now joined that'clan', so instead just read what they're finding!
