Jerry, I'm absolutely with you on the downside risk and, as you may recall, I've been banging-on about the political risk for some time (my fears were greatly assuaged by the local election results in our area)
I also agree with virtually everything else you've said, particularly with regard to CGP; which, to my mind, is a waste of time, money and effort. But I do understand why Mather doesn't want a potentially hostile owner of those shares (whereas I do)
The lack of newsflow from a once prolific issuer of announcements, is baffling. Historically, I have always subscribed to the opinion that bad news always takes time to emerge...it's such a natural human instinct for people not to want to release it...and they are ALWAYS wrong not to do so. However, in this instance it seems to me the macro picture is just too compelling and perhaps we should simply take Mathers explanation at face value. Additionally, virtually every time one reads an article by those involved in the sector, they never fail to stress the M&A aspects of this situation.
Anyway, who knows? For me, this remains a very exciting prospect.
