NM made clear reference to the fact that there may not be both a PFS and BFS stage. My take on this was that the PEA would act as the PFS. But who knows?

TheItalian, to be honest, it's not of much interest to BCN holders. The company's production is all pre-sold, but in the absence of funding, it's somewhat academic. And I say this as a long-term holder.

In any event, the geopark status does not prevent mineral extraction; it simply states that it must be conducted in an environmentally friendly way and must comply with local regulations i.e no change.

I think the one thing we can say without any equivocation is that neither BHP or Newcrest have any interest in being minority shareholders for the long term. This will form the catalyst for some type of corporate action; and I believe it will happen this year.
As for us taking it to production; for the reasons given by Jerry, I just can't see it.

It is not possible to buy a controlling stake, as you describe it. Stock Exchange rules dictate that if someone reaches a point of owning 30% of the equity, they have to make an offer to all shareholders on exactly the same terms.
The point about Cascabel is more interesting. What if NM has reached some form of tacit agreement with a company who wants to buy Cascabel, but doesn't want to bid for CGP? The agreement is that we buy them out for paper, thus owning 100% and then the bidder makes an offer for either Cascabel on its own, or, the entire company.

I'm guessing that you don't really expect anyone to be able to give you the answer? If you do, maybe this game isn't for you.

What I find interesting is that Newcrest are touted as being the favourites to buy CGP and yet have a seat at our board table. It would be fascinating to be privy to those conversations.
Does their man keep his mouth shut? Or does he argue the toss as to why SOLG should not buy it? Or is he excluded from these discussions?

For those of you who are new to this share I offer this as a bit of background.
For several years after the company was listed on AIM, the news flow was very limited. Eventually, after continual pressure from shareholders, we started receiving more regular updates and Secker started giving deadlines for various milestones. From memory, he's never hit one of those deadlines and, rather than offering an explanation, he left it to shareholders to speculate as to the reasons why. He often came up with fairly ridiculous excuses, which none of us believed. And occasionally he denied that they had ever been given in the first place.
The result of this was that many of us stopped believing anything he said that related to timing.
It's my view that this time is different. There is an absolute imperative to deliver in this quarter and his credibility is completely dependent upon it. In my opinion, should he fail, he will have to be replaced.
The point of mentioning this is that many of you appear to be expecting him to announce something soon. If I were you I'd not raise your hopes too high and I fully anticipate him taking this to the wire. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but history has taught me not to get too excited.
In the meantime, our hugely valuable asset remains exactly where it's been for countless millennia.
Separately, I wonder what is happening on the ground? Are we still producing samples? If so, why? If not, what's happened to the employees? What do they do all day?

lostagain, there were two transactions of 500k which were both reported as sells, although one appeared to cancel-out the other. In other words, I don't think there were 1.2m of sells today. These transactions do not appear on the HL site.

cookie, I agree. The economics should be nailed on. As far as the politics are concerned, this will be an issue until it isn't...if you get my meaning. However, the local election result was very good news for us and at State level, the government continues to make all the right noises. Even the decision to kick that pillock out the embassy demonstrated the wish to be seen as a mainstream and reliable country.
CGP is another matter. I'm wholly opposed to the idea. It's a major distraction and I've seen nothing from Mather which thus far, changes my mind.

You seem to be of the opinion that I'm in some way pessimistic about this issue. I'm not. I'm simply pointing out that costs may well have risen; not that this will be a significant problem. And that an increased cost estimate has led the company to investigate means of reducing those costs; hence the delay. (this happened with BCN and delayed their DFS and of course, has caused problems at SXX and Nemaska)
I can assure you, I'm every bit as confident about this as anyone else, but I am a realist and know too well how costs escalate in complex projects.

zoros, I suppose my point is that a PEA is purely about the economics, not about the political background etc. In fact, one would assume the government would be more inclined to look favourably at matters if the economics are compelling. Is this a question of cart before horse?
