This guy, and many other analysts, have always maintained that this can't be taken to production by a junior, and I'm certain he's right. NM is treading a very fine line. On the one hand the key potential bidders know full-well that we can't go it alone (which is a negotiating weakness from our point of view), but on the other, they are also aware of the significant competitive tension between their competitors. None of them will want to be left behind.
I have full confidence NM will exploit this to our maximum advantage. This has become a classic case of M&A positioning and strategic management. Our advisors will have been working with the team in order to develop a sales process and my guess is we are fully-prepared for whatever may arise.
By the way, I reckon NM has far more than $3bn in mind.
