As far as Barrick is concerned, it's not exactly news - the bloke has been banging on about it for months. Why on earth Eliza (or whomever) thought it is suddenly relevant, is a mystery.

copper, I rather fear it's you who's missing the point here. I have never seen a company post an article like this, particularly one which is quite obviously the subject of so much speculation. The nearest I can recall was the stuff EUA pushed out recently in a blatant attempt to manipulate the market - and I do not equate us with a company like EUA.
This is not a run-of-the-mill tweet from our company and no amount of protestation to the contrary will persuade me that it is.

RK, I find it hard to believe they are currently in discussions with any of the likely players. If they were, why did they bother with the fund raise last week? It doesn't make sense.
Of course, this doesn't preclude the chances of a hostile bid, but I've always been of the opinion an agreed deal was more likely.

As you say, RK, it is quite astonishing. I wonder when they'll haul up a flag on SOLG Towers with a big For Sale sign?

By the way, I should add, I know the answer. It's part of a process to drive up the price in anticipation of a bid.

one of the likely interested parties I would have worked out my strategy for gaining a greater interest, or total control, a long time ago. The trajectory has been pretty clear for most of this year (covid delays excepted) and there's been plenty of time to put meat on the bones of the strategy.
There will be a timetable for events and I consider the PFS to be the most critical event in the short term. Given the delays which have been experienced, this makes me feel we're talking about the first quarter of next year before the real action starts.
