I should add, in my opinion, the board was desperate to buy time in order to add value to the business and they intend to achieve that by means of jvs and a PFS, which hopefully will show just how valuable Alpala really is. Why BHP would agree to that is a mystery. Perhaps it's simply a case of them wanting any uncertainty removed and they are prepared to pay more in order to do so?

Bozi, that's exactly what I think happened, and they reached the same agreement with CGP.

CD, the two announcements were separate. Have a look at the RNS dated 2nd June - it changed everything - although the world doesn't seem to have woken up to the fact.

Bozi, I happen to agree with you as far as an orderly handover is concerned - it would have been far better to find a new CEO before NM was removed. However, it's my view that last year both BHP and NCM were exerting far more pressure on the board than we were aware of. After the agm I think they said: "either NM goes or we go hostile" and it was this which forced the board's hand.
I'm also of the opinion, and I've said this before, that any candidate for the job would be concerned by the review of options announcement. Who wants to join a company if the whole entity is about to go through a complete change? The individual would have no idea of what exactly he was taking on.

CD, the company is already engaged in a review of all options which, to my mind, is the same thing as a strategic review.

DBW, Quady may be many things, but even to hint he's a deramper is a sign of a particular type of derangement, which suddenly seems to have gripped this Byron character. Cleary, he's completely lost the plot.

Are you suggesting that if production didn't commence by a certain date the Franco monies would have to re-paid? As far as the government is concerned I'm not sure any such agreement exists, although I may be entirely wrong.

Bubble, the Franco deal is fully drawn and is extant. And, as was announced, following pressure from BHP and NCM, there will be no further deals of this nature.

By virtue of their current shareholding and the control they quite clearly exercised last year tells you all you need to know about how entrenched they are. Twigger's announcement a few months back confirmed the situation - we are now working in co-operation with BHP and, as RK has mentioned on several occasions, they have four geologists based in Ecuador doing little else other than working on Alpala.
BHP will either decide to take this (or Alpala on its own) or not. If they don't, the decision will be based upon an uneconomic PFS, at which point we're in for a rocky ride. And before you accuse me of de-ramping again, this is simply a fact.
The fact is both of us believe a bid will emerge, the difference is I understand the position of strength BHP occupy.

Ship, they're far too entrenched, and that's before we consider their fire power.

Rather than simply call Orthern a de-ramper, why not focus on what he says.
1. He says BHP will not have any competition - he's right.
2. He says they aren't investing - he's completely wrong.
3. He says the Crux report exposed many technical flaws - he's right. So much so that it led to a fundamentally different approach by our board and not just to the PFS. My guess is that BHP were also well aware of this and didn't need Crux to point it our for them.
4. We all hope the PFS reveals a stronger and viable project; or perhaps some of you don't?
BHP are here for a very good reason and it isn't simply to be a minority investor.
Sometimes the truth is unpalatable for private investors, but it shouldn't be ignored.

Disappointing, but not as disappointing as seeing Thomas crash again. On paper it was a strong British team, in reality they weren't. Mind you, we never do well at the Olympic RR.

RK, indeed. Racing like it used to be. I didn't feel the Dutch were particularly gracious in defeat, but it's difficult to get the true story from the telly. They obviously thought the medals were nailed-on and I was happy to see them proved wrong. Long live the underdog!
Pid****'s performance this morning was stunning. He is the future of British cycling. He can do it all.

RK, the Dutch performance was totally mystifying until it was revealed they didn't realise she was up the road. Nevertheless, it was a great performance by the Austrian.

And I should add he'll say he's not going to post again...ever. Five minutes later...bingo!

DBW, this is how it'll go.
1. BHP will either buy the lot or take Alpala off our hands.
2. Someone will post something about Q's statements.
3. Q will respond by saying he never said it wouldn't happen.
3. Someone, probably RK, will collate 4,000 of Q's posts to show that's exactly what he said.
4. Q will say RK is taking everything out of context.
5. Someone else will post another 1000 of Q's comments to prove the point.
6. Q will accuse everyone of being thick, ignorant, ******, lacking emotional intelligence and much else beside.
All of this is an absolute given.

After 53 years of racing bikes, sponsoring a team and following the sport, that was probably the hardest race I've ever seen. The endurance required was astonishing and it's a miracle anyone completed the course.
