The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Great RNS, nothing like putting your own money on the line.
I checked the accounts and Migge,Steed and Memon earned approx £200k between them, remember the first two are only part time.
What intrigued me though was that they each received hefty bonuses last year, £20k,£20k and £75k. Does anyone know what they achieved to trigger those bonuses ?
Hmmm, no indication they have a buyer, just the market maker has purchased them.
Anything under 0.40 would be a good buy in terms of value of the companies assets, although Thar may be a dead end.
For a speculative gold investment £8mill for the company seems good value, but then again long term holders may think differently.
Am as frustrated as the rest of you, this share has dived by about 50% in the last year, substantially more if you take the highs 18/24 months prior, but the CEO has bought a significant number of shares in the company, at a discount, but with her money on the line. I recall 3% of the company, so reporting levels, if she sold.
So I do think she has 'put her money where her mouth is" as CP13 eloquently puts it.
Another poster says this company has fallen because it has no value, well we need to ask what is minimum value, goldfield rights and Thar rights? Is £8 million reasonable?
Gold rights, well easy to sell your option, once proven, bit like selling approved planning permission on a house extension.
Thar, well more tricky as political, environmental and depends on paying the Chinese for previous energy projects on approved projects that are considered over generous, as they are desperate. Now trying to renegotiate.
My ****stani colleagues say that the reason they haven't stamped out polio is because they receive $300 million plus in donations and the security forces receive a substantial part, so not in their interest. This may be scurrilous, but no doubt has an impact on employment and may be indicative of policy.
One must remember, ****stan is high in the transparency international corruption index.
Who you know is more important than what you know.
Greasing the right palms is fundamental to doing business in this state.

Surely buggered either way , 5th most vulnerable country to climate change.

Also how do we read the PM's statement at global conference , no more coal fired powered stations?
CTG & CTL look really interesting, provided the economics are right, will need a public subsidy, but not an issue for shareholders, as long we get our money and Chinese rates of return
True, but some dogs turn into greyhounds, specially if they have good handlers/ owners like Chinese and Gulf based investors…
Other Chinese investors are seeing a return in capital in 3 years in ****stan power sector, it’s like a Wild West for pay day loans, literally a money printing press
Third is the energy sector, the most significant core area. Its portfolio included 17 ‘priority projects’ cumulatively generating around 11,000 MW of electricity; four ‘actively promoted projects’ (upto 2,000 MW); and two ‘potential projects’ (180 MW). In the 17 priority projects, the last completion date (Thar-Coal Gassification) is 2022.

The more I read about ****stan, the more convinced I am , that the right connections will get this project over the line.
The project has a top influencer.
Article below shows how anything goes ...

Hi SG
My understanding of a discussion board, is that both positive and negative aspects are discussed.
I hold shares, small part of my portfolio, but held, although I don’t believe that should be a pre-requisite for a discussion.
The full report by the IEEFA is here, investors should know the facts both pros and cons to guide their investments.
https://ieefa.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/No-Second-Life-For-Coal-in-****stan_May-2021.pdf
One fact that stands out for me , that is contrary to what many posters have stated, is that power generation is desperately needed in ****stan, because of regular blackouts, the truth is the system is badly managed/corrupt/ high rates of theft.
To quote:
In the fiscal year 2019-20, the overall utilisation of ****stan’s thermal power generation fleet dropped to just 37% according to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) data.
It is expected that total circular debt across the power system will reach Rs2.8 trillion (US$17.6 billion) by the end of June 2021.
Why do I hold shares ? As I can write off the loss easily as balanced portfolio. Do I think this share will fly , despite being toxic for ****stan economically and environmentally? Yes, could be a ten bagger, as it has powerful backers in China and the Gulf.
Best Regards
Although a negative article , good to see CTG / CTL on the agenda in ****stan

Am I correct in thinking that the LOI can't happen till the Chinese approve the project through the JCC meeting which is at least 6 months overview.

In the ****stan context, real estate ! . Current population 220 Million, 2050 forecast to be 403 million .
In addition to natural growth rate expect more/ continued rural to urban migration.
But be warned plenty of scammers out there.
Hi Mate
Can I just confirm what time your buy was?
Two 300,000 trades today
10.28am showing as a sell @.5255
13.38pm showing as a sell @.5188
We know the buy/sells tag is hit and miss as all automated.
If you got in at either price, bargain.
Just perplexed that smaller buys appear to be a lot higher priced.
Am assuming you bought in one chunk and you may not have, just interested in function or disfunctioning of market.
Cheers
