Personally i think Petrovis investors would rather see a closer tie up with MATAD now that they are an oil producer and the refinery is not that far off, as Mongolia’s largest fuel supplier i would assume Petrovis will also be the refinery’s biggest customer, what better than have a stake in the company that is supplying oil to the refinery, win win both ends of the supply chain for Petrovis and MATAD.

Mongolia refinery needs 30,000 bopd to run at 100% capacity, right now Mongolia daily production is not enough to run the refinery at even 30% capacity, no doubt Mongolia will accept running the refinery at 30 to 40% capacity initially, but if they are to cut fuel imports they must get drilling and increase daily crude production by at least 300%.

We know Petro China half of the Tamsag Basin has been heavily drilled since 2005, MATADs half of the TAMSAG Basin (Heron field) is still unexplored, only two wells drilled.

90% of Mongolias oil comes from Petro China Tamsag field which is approaching end of life, best oil prospects already drilled, they need MATADs Heron field.

Billyrvalentine, spot on, most seem to be looking to make quick money, no doubt a JV or buyout would suit them, others, like myself are happy to wait, if a placing comes thats ok as well as it means we keep all future profits in house, in the longer term (12 to 18 months) it works out better.
